Red Jazz filly, cost €23,000 as a foal and €58,000 as a yearling. Left debut behind when scoring with a strong finish at Kempton over this trip. Questionable how strong that contest was and raced in a slow time.
Acclamation colt ran to a similar level in his first three starts that would set the standard here but proved a disappointing favourite next time at Newcastle. Could bounce back if learning to settle better.
58,000 gns son of Exceed And Excel out of a Listed winner. Travelled well for a long way on debut but ultimately well beaten and an absence of nearly a year to overcome. Market may prove best guide.
Wootton Bassett gelding, cost €55,000 as a yearling and €240,000 as a Breeze-up purchase. Physically very small and very green on debut at Southwell. Likely to prefer this surface and step up in trip but big progress required.
Cape Cross filly who is a half sister to several winners. Little positive to take out of two well beaten efforts at Wolverhampton and others preferred.
From a sprint family the trainer has done well with down the years. Went close on Kempton debut but failed to progress from that at Wolverhampton. Can't be discounted but more required.
Daughter of Bated Breath out of an Oasis Dream mare. Cost 19,000gns as a yearling. Well held on fibresand on debut and although hard to make a case for, her trainer's runners can improve significantly with experience.
Forecasts
Ballyquin (2/1), Always A Drama (11/4), Minuty (9/2), Barritus (5/1), Favori Royal (6/1), Farl (20/1), Paminah (33/1), Dunstall Dreamer (100/1)
In a race lacking depth it would be no surprise to see the only previous winner Always A Drama follow up but it may be worth taking a chance that BALLYQUIN, with hopefully more patient tactics, can get back to the level he showed in his first three starts which should be good enough in this company. Minuty didn't improve on her second start but isn't one to give up on just yet.
