Only had to run to his mark to land a slowly run C&D seller and doubts still persist he stays this far in a truly run race.
Landed a couple of soft ground handicaps in October but subsequent AW efforts in this grade have produced sub-standard efforts.
Regressive on the Flat and has not adapted to hurdles. Hard to recommend in his current mood. Trainer 0-5 on Flat over past five years.
Tailed off last of seven on his return to action last week and needs to show more before earning respect.
C&D winner in May off 3lb lower. Well beaten on both starts since and hard to blame those efforts entirely on the tougher class.
Heavily penalised for a short-head victory at Kempton in August and had his attentions switched to hurdling. Responded with two victories before dropping away quickly on last start. Tongue-tie added now. Worth noting in the market.
Three-time 1m4½f winner at Newcastle and also won on turf at Brighton in 2017-2018. Last four runs however someway short of that and best watched for now.
Won a 2m handicap here in October and bounced back from a lesser effort when when 1½L third of 14 to Magic Mirror over this trip at Kempton a month ago. A slowly run race did not suit last time and today's rider unbeaten when on board.
Forecasts
Nylon Speed (11/10), Tralee Hills (4/1), Dutch Uncle (5/1), Bamako Du Chatelet (11/2), Smiley Bagel (14/1), Shinghari (25/1), Esspeegee (28/1), Stormy Blues (33/1)
There are doubts about all of these but a chance is taken that Fran Berry can maintain his unbeaten record on BAMAKO DU CHATELET. His last two victories have come over further but he went close to Kempton specialist Magic Mirror over this trip before finishing down the field in a slowly run contest last time. More use can be expected to be made of his stamina this time in a bid to expose flaws in his rivals. Dutch Uncle carries a stamina doubt despite his C&D victory in a poor race run at snail's pace last time and Nylon Speed needs to bounce back from a poor run over hurdles.
- Bamako Du Chatelet
- Dutch Uncle
