Looks to be something of a reformed character over the jumps of late (has refused to start in that sphere before) and only having his 2nd Flat start recently over 1m4f. Never run on this surface and it remains to be seen how he takes to it.

Stable do well here but this one is far from their usual contender having had just one run in a Marker Rasen summer bumper achieving very little. Flat-bred so could well be better suited to this sphere but only of interest if supported in the market.

Fibresand debutante (sire 16% strike-rate here); ran a fair race on his debut for this yard (was with Hugo Palmer). Looked to be going the wrong way for that yard but can't be ruled out for a trainer with a good record at rejuvenating such types.

Looks totally outclassed here despite his previous experience of this surface but he is 0-10 here and 0-22 overall and will be a massive shock if he could emerge with a first win here.

Better known as a hurdler (trainer does well with his Flat runners) and she ran a sound race on her recent belated Flat debut on Tapeta over 1m4f. May need a stiffer test of stamina though; trainer has expressed some doubts about her on Fibresand.

Frankel filly who makes her debut on Fibresand reverting to maiden company after failing to improve last time when attempting to make all (handicap debut) after a break. Stable have their best AW strike-rate here (20%) and must be respected.

Sire is building a good record on Fibresand and this once-raced filly is an interesting sort switching to this surface after only having one run for William Haggas. Showed ability and a market move on stable debut should be noted.

Forecasts

Francophilia (2/1), Temur Khan (9/4), Miss Crick (5/2), Taraayef (12/1), Utility (12/1), Willy Sewell (33/1), Ejabah (200/1)

Verdict

Trainer Tony Carroll is good at rejuvenating cast offs from other stables and it won’t be a surprise if he gets a win out of Temur Khan having gone close with him on stable behind a well backed favourite first time up (the 3rd won next time out). Miss Crick was back in 4th that and isn’t much better off at the weights with the trainer having expressed some doubts about this surface. Francophilia represents a stable that do well here and it won’t surprise if she tries to make all. A chance is taken with TARAAYEF on her stable/Fibresand debut; she looks on pedigree a likely type for this surface and should know more for her debut run having been bought for £6,000 guineas from the Haggas yard.
  1. Taraayef
  2. Temur Khan
  3. Francophilia
