Won a 0-135 at Haydock (2m3f, heavy) last season. Below par his final start last season and on his reappearance in a better race than this at Carlisle, but has to be taken very seriously back at this level.
Point-to-point, bumper and novice hurdle winner who fell over fences last time. Needs to be right back to his best hurdles form now reverting to this discipline for his handicap debut, but can't rule that out.
Reverts to hurdles for his first start since April. Record when fresh is encouraging, handles soft and gets this trip, so entitled to respect from this mark.
Won this race last year (heavy) when 8lb lower. Out of sorts recently and refused to race last time. Blinkers now fitted, but plenty to prove at the moment.
Inconsistent, but has won four times over hurdles. Nearly made it five when just held at Uttoxeter (2m7½f, heavy) last month. Back up 5lb for that, so will need to be somewhere near a career best if he is to win this time.
Won back-to-back novice events at Kelso over 2m5f in the autumn, and ran well on his handicap debut at Cheltenham when last seen in November. Drops 1lb. Acts on soft. More needed, but could go very well.
Beat Arthurs Secret a neck over C&D (now 1lb worse with him) in November, but cried enough before three out over 2m7f at Haydock last time. Can't rule out another big effort now back over this C&D.
Has gone close on both his last two starts and is 1lb better off with Road To Gold for a neck defeat here in November. Keeps creeping up the weights for this defeats, however, so more needed if he is to double his hurdles win tally.
Forecasts
Aye Right (9/4), Bryden Boy (9/2), Arthurs Secret (6/1), Road To Gold (7/1), Senor Lombardy (15/2), One For Harry (9/1), Elusive Theatre (9/1), Fine Rightly (14/1)
A decent, competitive handicap hurdle where AYE RIGHT gets the vote after showing a fair amount of potential on his handicap debut at Cheltenham. The veteran One For Harry is very much a potential danger, with Fine Rightly, Senor Lombardy and Road To Gold others of interest.
- Aye Right
- One For Harry
- Senor Lombardy
