Fairly useful over hurdles when with Philip Hobbs (won three times); starting to look rather disappointing over fences (0-7). Joined a yard that are good at rejuvenating horses (2nd on stable debut over shorter); failed to convince last time (3m2f).
Has a rather uneven record so far finally winning over hurdles at the 5th attempt (0-3 in bumpers) at Carlisle in the spring (novice hurdle getting weight). Beaten off a stiff mark back in a handicap; returns from wind op for chasing debut.
Made the most of two good opportunities to take consecutive novice hurdles in the spring. Well held on his return from a break in a Cheltenham handicap hurdle (jumped poorly) and needs to show more switched to fences for the first time.
Strong travelling hurdler who struck three times in that sphere last year and offered something to work on from his recent chasing debut. Did enough to suggest he could match his hurdles form in time; stable a little quiet and may need better ground.
Beaten 40L on his chasing debut (decent Beginners chase); showed that he had ability when winning a staying novice hurdle on his Rules debut. Winner of an Irish point-to-point on his 2nd run in that sphere this looks a suitable test after his debut.
Forecasts
Jack Devine (15/8), Duke Debarry (3/1), Piri Massini (3/1), Hurricane Dylan (5/1), Braavos (10/1)
Just the five go to post and although this is an easier event than Jack Devine faced last time his stable are rather quiet at the moment and that rather tempers enthusiasm for this strong travelling sort who will be winning over fences. Duke Debarry would be one of the lesser lights in the Henderson yard but he’s 2-3 with his chasers here and this one return from a wind op to make his chasing debut. This will be a first chase runner at the track for Olly Murphy and it could be a winning one with Irish point-to-point winner PIRI MASSINI having shaped well enough when given a tough start over fences at Uttoxeter last time.
- Piri Massini
- Duke Debarry
- Jack Devine
