Hasn't won since scoring twice at Ludlow in 2014 (2m, good to soft) despite a gradual fall in the weights; cheekpieces are now applied and his trainer is steadily hitting form; could prove sharper for his reappearance run.
Broke his duck under rules when winning at Ludlow (3m, good) in October, but has failed to complete on both subsequent outings and needs to bounce back in refitted headgear.
Fairly useful performer in his younger days for Nicky Henderson but without a win since Boxing Day 2015; joined this trainer for £5,000 in August (from Ben Haslam), and went close (wandered in front) at Fontwell (2m5f+) latest.
6-33 over fences and 2lb below his last winning mark (May 2018); finished a never dangerous sixth (beaten in excess of 16L) over C&D on his penultimate start.
Got no further than the first (unseated rider) when bidding to follow up his November Southwell win (2m4f+, good) at Huntingdon recently; still early days over fences (and wearing cheekpieces); chance.
PTP winner for Tom Malone in January 2017; ran his best race under rules so far when finishing a distant second to Eddy at Exeter (2m5f+ novices' handicap hurdle) 14 months ago; off since and has switched stables from Tim Vaughan.
Eight-race maiden, albeit with limited experience over fences (0-1); tongue-tied for the first time on her third start since wind surgery; 2m4f on good to soft/soft ground is fine; others preferred.
Not always consistent, but has run some reasonable races when on song without winning under rules (0-15); staying on second (beaten ¾L by Mister Maker) over an extended 2m5f at Taunton (good) last month.
The handicapper seemingly has him where he wants him and although an all the way winner off a similar mark at Fontwell (2m5f+, heavy) in February, he shouldn't quite prove good enough; generally jumps well.
Ready winner on her chasing debut at Wetherby (2m3f+, soft) 23 days ago; that race lacked any real substance and she competes off a 7lb higher mark today, albeit you can do no more than beat what is placed in front of you.
Veteran who is struggling to recapture his peak form from earlier in the calendar year; feasibly might've needed the run at Hereford (3m1f) last month; difficult to enthuse over.
Beaten just under 5L when finishing fourth to Native Robin in this race in 2017 (also finished third in 2016); evidently appreciates racing at this track (C&D winner); held valid excuses latest (badly hampered by a faller mid-race).
Lightly-raced over hurdles, but has taken a slight backward step over fences more recently; made mistakes when finishing a distant fourth of six to Inchcolm at Hexham (3m, soft) 19 days ago; dropped in trip.
8-40 over fences but hasn't won anywhere since March 2016; advancing in years and more of a 2-miler than anything else; all hopes are pinned on him having needed the run at Fakenham recently (his first start since June); look elsewhere.
Forecasts
Orchardstown Cross (2/1), Vivaccio (5/1), Lady Master (5/1), Boughtbeforelunch (8/1), Redmond (10/1), Full Shift (11/1), Arquebusier (12/1), Cranbrook Causeway (16/1), Whin Park (16/1), Charlie Papa Lima (20/1), Modeligo (22/1), Little Jimmy (25/1), Ask Catkin (25/1), Spock (66/1)
Lady Master was a pleasing winner on her chasing debut at Wetherby earlier this month but that race lacked any real substance and there's every likelihood that she'll be found wanting off a 7lb higher mark. Arquebusier is a regular in this particular race and generally appreciates his visits to Warwick, so is more than capable of making the frame, whilst Boughtbeforelunch will be ultra-competitive with a clear round of fencing. However, with the Venetia Williams string hitting form, the eased in the handicap top-weight VIVACCIO can go well in newly-applied cheekpieces with the benefit of his seasonal reappearance run under his belt.
- Vivaccio
- Boughtbeforelunch
- Arquebusier
