Only 1L behind Delta Work on chasing bow and duly went on to win next time, Made mistakes on latest start before losing his action and further questions to answer over this trip
Game sort who went down by a neck in the Grade 2 Florida Pearl last month but finished 56L behind Delta Work in the Drinmore. That not his true showing and blinkers replace the visor worn then.
Pertemps Final winner who beat Boxing Day Grade 1 winner Le Richebourg in the Drinmore. Can only get better stepping back up in trip and trainer has won two of the last three renewals of this.
Has landed four minor novice events and, although he has earned the right to aim this high, this looks beyond his reach.
Looks destined to be a better chaser than hurdler having jumped like a seasoned campaigner at Thurles last week. Has not yet done enough to suggest he is a Grade 1 performer, but interesting connections are risking his handicap mark in this.
Trainer has long thought this well-bred gelding would develop into a smart staying chaser. Every chance he will step up considerably on what he achieved at Fairyhouse and stable had a 1-2 in the Grade 1 novice chase here on Boxing Day.
Not seen since finishing behind Blow By Blow in the Florida Pearl. Most of these are rated ahead of him and he looks the weak link in the Gigginstown team.
Forecasts
Delta Work (8/15), Mortal (7/1), Blow By Blow (10/1), Judgement Day (10/1), Moonshine Bay (14/1), Nick Lost (14/1), Ben Dundee (16/1)
The Gigginstown team virtually monopolise this event with five of the seven runners including RSA hopeful DELTA WORK who puts his unbeaten chase record on the line. In so doing he charts the same course as No More Heroes who won this for Gordon Elliott three years ago having taken the Drinmore en-route. That form has been boosted since by Joseph O'Brien's Le Richebourg and the Kilkenny handler saddles the main threat here. Mortal got the better of 143-rated Any Second Now at Fairyhouse and that rival had a fitness advantage too. The longer trip is expected to bring out more and he looks the most potent threat to the selection.
- Delta Work
- Mortal
- Blow By Blow
