20/1
Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Comes back from a layoff with stable in good form and is well worth noting in the betting for this.

Ancient Sands20
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-8| J: Sean Flanagan| T: J E Kiely| OR:  138| D

Was pulled up when last spotted over hurdles but comes here having been in good tune on the Flat recently. Could bounce back.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: Donagh Meyler| T: A Fleming| OR:  137| D

Comes back down in trip for this return to hurdling. Best known as a chaser but on a very workable mark for this assignment.

Horse silk
Ivanovich Gorbatov25
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: B J Geraghty| T: J P O'Brien| OR:  136| CD
14/1
Former C&D winner and Cheltenham Festival winner in his youth. Lost his way now however and hard to be convinced he'll run a reliable race.

11/2
Runner-up behind Wonder Laish at Fairyhouse over this trip last week, perhaps unlucky in doing so. Set to go well again.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-2| J: J S McGarvey| T: P A Fahy| OR:  132| CD

Remains 3lb ahead of his previous winning mark, but is a former C&D winner that switches from chase to hurdles for this.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-13| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins| OR:  129| D

Was pulled up at Fairyhouse last time, in a race where several of these rivals were more fancied in the betting, similar story now.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: D N Russell| T: G Elliott| OR:  128| D

Sedgefield scored in the autumn in typical UK raid by this yard. Needs to have his A-game to be winning from this mark in competitive fare today.

Jetez26
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sean O'Keeffe(7)| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR:  128| D

Ran a good second over 2m4f at Fairyhouse recently and has winning form this season. Winner rather got the run of things last time and should go well in this field.

Doesn't have the experience of some of these but has shown clear potential over hurdles. Second for the trainer in this line-up and makes handicap debut. Notable.

Cut The Mustard25
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-9| J: Ruby Walsh| T: W P Mullins| OR:  125
9/2
Was returning from a layoff at Fairyhouse recently and showed signs of needing the run. Gets Ruby Walsh for company and much-respected on back of that run.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-7| J: Brian Hayes| T: E Cawley| OR:  123| D

Good second at Navan last time in a big field. Only 3lb higher for this but not one that is sure to be suited by the drop to 2m.

Law Girlt111
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-7| J: P D Kennedy| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR:  123

Willie Mullins castoff, well held on debut for this yard over 2m4f at Fairyhouse this month. Gets a tongue tie added now coming down in distance.
14

Veinardt173
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-7| J: D F O'Regan| T: G Elliott| OR:  123
25/1
Has the form to get involved but recent efforts aren't too inspiring and, in any case, likely to settle for a minor prize at his best.

Jan Maat59
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-4| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  120| BF| D
4/1
Unexposed runner, represents connections that grabbed this race a year ago and has plenty potentially stepping out in a handicap for the first time. Perhaps most likely for Henry De Bromhead in this.

Winner of a novice handicap last month at Punchestown over the trip, seemingly doing so with a bit up his sleeve. Gone up 6lb but wouldn't like to write off.

Verdict

Typically open fare, with the betting an essential guide. Tudor City is bound to be popular having looked to be a shade unfortunate in taking second at Fairyhouse last time. Cut The Mustard looked to run a better on her return from a layoff and could have more to say under Ruby Walsh here but JAN MAAT might be worth chancing on his handicap debut. Connections took this event last year and there ought to be races in him from what looks a fair mark. Veinard is one to note back from a break and could hit the frame at a fair price.
  1. Jan Maat
  2. Cut The Mustard
  3. Tudor City
