Plenty to prove based on last season's efforts over fences and would struggle against some of these on best of hurdles form.
Represents the champion trainer but well fended off both chase starts this season at Navan (2m1f, good) and Fairyhouse (2m5f, good). Appears second choice of the Mullins pair.
Solid hurdle, with one win from 10 attempts, hasn't taken to fencing like a natural and tries a hood for the first time here.
Fair effort at Punchestown this month when third in a race won by Getabird, that was his first run in two years. Interesting to see if he can build no that now.
As good as any of these over timber as a novice, was turned over at odds-on last month on chasing bow at Navan (2m1f, good). Must improve, but a surprise should he not do so.
Rated 140 over timber, makes chase debut here and has to be taken seriously. Seemingly the choice of Paul Townend over stablemate Dolciano Dici.
Dual bumper winner, landed Naas maiden hurdle on first try over jumps but not sighted since poor run in the Royal Bond at Fairyhouse more than a year ago. Market will reveal more.
Sent off 50/1 and finished a long way behind some of these re-opposing rivals at Punchestown earlier in the month. Another tough ask here seemingly.
Has been disappointing in three starst over fences, failing to meet expectations. Better last time at Punchestown (fourth) though that still leaves him with work to with Moon Over Germany (third).
Forecasts
Real Steel (9/4), Moon Over Germany (5/2), Paloma Blue (4/1), Mitchouka (8/1), Red Jack (8/1), Dolciano Dici (14/1), Impact Factor (25/1), Dakota Moirette (25/1), Uisce Beatha (50/1)
Paloma Blue was a bit disappointing on chase bow at Navan last time. He should improve on that showing but might remain vulnerable now. Moon Over Germany ran a fine race behind Getabird last time and will go close with a repeat, though that run did come on the back of a two-year absence so there are reasons to be cautious. Mitchouka is getting the hang of chasing but this might go the way of newcomer REAL STEEL, an above average hurdler for the champion trainer that likely has a good future in this sphere.
- Real Steel
- Paloma Blue
- Mitchouka
