Could be considered well-handicapped on old form, but he is without a win since 2015. Has the ground in his favour but hard to recommend having been tailed off last time and returning from a six month absence.

Placed several times over hurdles this summer but facing vastly different conditions here having failed to get further than the fourth on chase debut.

Disappointing favourite over hurdles here last time and headgear returns. Claims on his spring chase form with underfoot conditions to his liking. Stable have gone close in this contest on three occasions lately.

Not the most fluent of jumpers and tailed off on return from a two year layoff. Stable 1-57 this season.

Without a win since for almost four years and has a poor record over fences. Mark continues to drop but hard to believe he can take advantage.

Five-time Flat winner but NH record is 0-14. Handles soft ground and last week's Plumpton second gives him every chance of correcting that record.

Verdict

This looks a good opportunity for CHIVERS to open his account under NH rules. Not only does he have the best recent form, but conditions are ideal and his stable are regularly amongst the winners here and have landed this previously. Chris Gordon also likes to target this race and Sky Full Of Stars may be a different proposition with headgear refitted on his return to chasing. Thomas Blossom needs to adapt to new surroundings and softer ground, but still looks best of the rest.
