There were hints of ability in bumpers and his final novice hurdle (over C&D) for Gary Moore; appeared once again that there may be more to come in the future. Since departed the Moore barn and now makes his stable debut; may interest in handicaps.

0-3 in Irish point-to-points (only completed once) before being hammered in bumpers (100-1 both times) by nearly 100L each time. Wore first-time cheekpieces last time and hood is now added to the previous headgear.

Well held on his one bumper run for this yard he showed a little more ability when given his hurdles debut at Doncaster last month. Needed that run for both fitness and experience but will need to improve his jumping to be of interest.

His two hurdles runs so far have only shown modest ability (jumping left something to be desired on debut) and he's finished well beaten both times. Will at least get a mark after this run but makes very limited appeal here.

Half-brother to 5 winners including a smart hurdler (Bondage) but has shown very little of their ability so far although he has only had one hurdles start. Pulled up over C&D on that occasion he can't be recommended here.

Already has a mark of 133 having caught the eye on his hurdling debut and then shown even more to step up on that run on his 2nd hurdles start. Looked to enjoy this trip at Newbury last time when 2nd to a smart one with some useful types in behind.

Irish point-to-point winner by a small margin who offered something to work on from his debut but disappointed last time over C&D. Beaten a long way out on that occasion after a mistake at the first and needs to bounce back.

0-6 in point-to-points (finished 2nd in last two starts in that sphere) this will be his 2nd hurdles run after some wind surgery. 50-1 and only beat one home he'll need to come on a great deal from that run to take a hand in this.
Fell on both his starts in Irish point-to-points before showing very little in two novice hurdles of late. Beaten 61L at Kempton last time and remains one who is best watched.

Had a reasonable record in Irish point-to-points winning one at the 4th attempt on a testing surface. Tried twice over hurdles for this yard and once over fences and looks to be brought along gently in both spheres.

Made very little impact in point-to-points (failed to complete in any of his four starts) and there was nothing to build on from his initial run over hurdles; beat one home.
Has an appealing jumping pedigree and produced a sound first effort in bumpers. Returned over hurdles after a break (easy to back; in need of experience) but should do better here with the start under her belt.

Had plenty of experience in Irish point-to-points (placed three times) with her most recent run coming late-November (made 2-1 favourite; finished 2nd). Did show some ability there and may be able to get involved on her hurdles debut.

Forecasts

Mr Pumblechook (1/6), Viva Vittoria (9/2), Eclair De Guye (13/2), Witches Glen (10/1), Soarlikeaneagle (20/1), Three In One (33/1), Fight For Love (40/1), Further North (50/1), Tractor Fred (66/1), Vetoncall (66/1), Bigdeal (100/1), Clondaw Robin (100/1), Writingsonthewall (100/1)

Verdict

MR PUMBLECHOOK won’t get many weaker/easier opportunities to break his maiden having finished a good 2nd last time in a much stronger event that this at Newbury. Most of the others in this will be headed down the handicap route once they get a mark with Bigdeal one who will be of interest in that sphere. Viva Vittoria will need to step up on her hurdling debut at Chepstow but she is likely to do so with the other mare in the race Witches Glen who is fit from point-to-points another who could make the frame with a tongue-tie on for the first time.
  1. Mr Pumblechook
  2. Viva Vittoria
  3. Witches Glen
