Bumper winner (remains his only win) who has had two wind ops in his career and it looked as though his temperament may be getting the better of him on his return. Fared no better last time out in his first handicap; soon beaten, one to be wary of.

Some of his earlier form in novice hurdles was quite useful but he's not gone on from those outings and although he's dropped in the handicap from an initial stiff mark he's not shown much of late. Pulled up last time (jumped poorly); best watched.

Dual C&D winner who comes here seeking a belated hat-trick after a lengthy absence. Showed a commendable attitude when winning here last time which should stand him in good stead but entitled to need the run.

Has been a rather slow-burner for a yard that does well with this type but their patience may be about to be rewarded. Showed no effects from his Ludlow fall when taking 2nd last time to a rejuvenated winner and will go well here granted a true test.

Failed to win when trained in Ireland compiling a 0-12 record before attracting support on her initial run for this yard (Hexham, 2m4f). Ran poorly though (pulled-up) and didn't look an easy ride; dropped 4lb for that run but question marks remain.

Only modest these days and his only win remains a very easy juvenile win on his debut for this yard. Showed some fair form over fences but failed to cut much ice when returning over hurdles last time; dropped 2lb for that effort, others appeal more.

Qualified for a mark with a run over 2m (trip too short); ought to have been suited by the extra 4f on her handicap debut. Had the run of the race at Market Rasen but was easy to back; the jury remains out on her chance despite the ease in weights.

A long time since he's shown much form over hurdles and although he was fit from the Flat he showed very little on his latest start in this sphere; never really involved. Given another ease in the weights but hard to construct a solid case for him.

Went with very little encouragement last time returning from a break without his usual headgear which returns here. Well out of the handicap here a hurdles record of 0-19 is hardly bet compelling material.

Forecasts

Trigger Nichol (11/10), Great Tempo (11/4), Zamoyski (8/1), Don Des Fosses (10/1), Maggies Legend (16/1), D'pinesflyer (16/1), Tarrona (22/1), Mr Bachster (33/1), Bertie Moon (50/1)

Verdict

A low-key end to the card but it presents a good chance for TRIGGER NICHOL to win over hurdles having shown steady improvement for the Newland yard. He bumped into a well-handicapped rival last time and the addition of cheekpieces may eke out the necessary progress to land this. The hat-trick seeking Zamoyski needs respecting despite not looking to have much in hand off this mark although this is a race lacking depth. Great Tempo has landed in a weak race and has a decent chance of hitting the frame in a race where only a few appeal.
  1. Trigger Nichol
  2. Zamoyski
  3. Great Tempo
