In super form over C&D of late recording three wins with the latest proving that he was better than ever (beat Mable Lee)and improving his impressive record over C&D (6411221). He's up a further 4lb here; should still go well on a surface he loves.

So far has failed to win this year but has slipped back below her last winning mark but does have to deal with a progressive Another Angel again. She's better off at the weights for being beaten just 1L but may have to settle for another place.

Maiden who had some fair form for Joseph O'Brien before being sold out of his yard for £10,500. Gelded and back from 10 months off when having his first run for this yard (50-1) and drops in grade here; may need a little more time, dropped 4lb.

Maiden winner on the Wolverhampton Tapeta earlier in the year over this trip but has so far disappointed in handicaps apart from one run. Did look to need the run last time out though after 7 months off over 6f; runs off career-low mark now.

Enigmatic character whose form has a rather uneven profile but he is capable on his day (5-26 over C&D). Well below form last time (6f; all wins at 5f) and can never be totally ruled out; back in visor (worn for last win) and below last winning mark.

Maiden who bounced back to form on her 2nd start after a wind op over 6f at Catterick looking as though she needed further. Has been kept to sprint distances since with the 5f she ran over last time patently too sharp; needs a return to 7f plus.

Ran in the race over C&D last time where the first four all take each other on again running better than she had previously. His one win over C&D came in lower company than this though and may struggle to reverse the earlier placings.

Another member of the group that ran behind Another Angel last time (4th) with the headgear tried last time retained; goes off a 2lb lower mark. Has been hard to win with overall (C&D win came in lower grade); may have to settle for a place again.

Gradually edging down the weights; hardly looks a winner waiting to happen, his two C&D runs have been modest to say the least. Drops to a career-low mark here but often spoils his chance with being slowly way and others are a more solid proposition.

Has typically followed a good run with a poor run but that hasn't been the case of late with one poor run following another. Disgraced herself last time when refusing to race (not for the first time); one to treat with caution.

Returns to this surface (ran his first two races here; over 7f) and looks to have found some improvement of late switched to Fibresand (pedigree looks right for that surface). Maybe better to wait for him to return to Southwell on recent evidence.

AW form is generally poor with all his three wins all coming on turf. Ran a shocker over C&D last time and has a mountain to climb to reverse the form with the quartet that filled the first four places and easily passed over.

Only showed modest form when with Tracy Waggott (0-9) in a variety of races at 6f-1m. Given a long break and wind surgery before reappearing for this yard with two runs over 7f here; finished last both times and of little interest.

Forecasts

Another Angel (5/4), Mable Lee (6/1), Windforpower (8/1), Blue Suede (10/1), Gorgeous General (10/1), Star Cracker (10/1), Foxy Boy (12/1), Astraea (16/1), Carpet Time (16/1), Fuel Injection (20/1), Mystical Moon (20/1), Camanche Grey (33/1), Spirit Power (33/1), Sandstream (150/1)

Verdict

The 1-2-3-4 from a 5f handicap won by ANOTHER ANGEL 10 days ago here looks to hold the key to this race with the progressive winner taken to add to his already impressive C&D record despite the 4lb higher mark. Of those that finished behind him that day Mable Lee looks to have the best chance of reversing the form with the other placed horses – Star Cracker and Fuel Injection – expected to run well again. Of those that didn’t take part in that race enigmatic but capable over C&D Windforpower is the most likely to gatecrash that particular party with his mark having slipped below his last winning one.
  1. Another Angel
  2. Mable Lee
  3. Windforpower
