Really needs an out-and-out gallop to operate off and hard to see how he's going to get that here. Showed himself to be in good heart last time over 6f (has only run once over 7f; finished 5th of 14); off the same mark here but lack of pace a worry.
Course winner off a substantial break back in 2016 off a 10lb lower mark over 1m and despite winning twice since then is on a long losing run. Had every chance to end that run at Chelmsford last time (favourite) but failed to convert once again.
Bought for £26,000 out of Andreas Wohler's yard having won three times in Germany (once over 7f). Given a considerate introduction on his only run for the yard so far over an inadequate trip; now makes his AW debut back over a more suitable distance.
Form reads well enough this year with three wins from five starts (both poor runs on soft turf); has won twice on Tapeta with one win coming here over 6f. Responded well to pressure to beat a progressive sort last time; more to come from him.
Last three wins have all come on the AW (last two over 7f) and he can probably cope with this mark and grade. Made rather hard work of his last run though (looked a little lazy) and the lack of pace may be a problem for him also.
Forecasts
Tough Remedy (11/8), Boy In The Bar (10/3), Polybius (7/2), Firmament (9/2), Sanaadh (16/1)
A race that lacks any real pace and there’s a danger that it could end up in a bit of a mess with no natural front/prominent runner in the field. Firmament is on a long losing run and is for the most part a hard horse to trust to get the job done. Both Polybius and Boy In The Bar could do with a pace to run at particularly the former whose best form is over 6f and not 7f in any case. TOUGH REMEDY did well to win last time when reeling in a progressive sort and he could well go on from that although he’s never backed up one of his three wins yet. Sanaadh now wears a tongue-tie for the first time and will enjoy this 7f trip; a market watch is advised.
