Redback gelding who has been sold cheaply twice, and makes limited appeal on pedigree. Probably best watched on debut.
From a good sprinting family for connections, but only got going late in the day on debut here over 6f, and no surprise to see him stepped up in trip on that evidence. May need more time.
Form figures a little flattering, but gradually improving, and not helped by a slow pace when fourth of 7 in a Lingfield novice last time. May yet do better.
Longstanding maiden who ran one of his better races when fifth in a C&D handicap last time, but even that leaves him with plenty to find back in maiden company.
Unplaced in a junior bumper at Warwick on debut but hinted at ability there, and pedigree suggests he will be better suited to shorter trips on the Flat. Not dismissed out of hand.
Back on track for new yard having left Mark Brisbourne, but she was racing off a basement mark when placed last time, and isn't an obvious type to win a maiden.
Failed to go on for Sir Michael Stoute, but not without promise on debut for current yard at Newcastle in October, and found a pretty weak contest here, so shortlisted.
Havana Gold half-sister to smart stayer Montaly and 6f winner Farleigh Mac. Not overfaced on debut, and one to note closely in the market.
Has looked very limited on the evidence of two well-beaten runs to date.
Back to form when third in a 7f handicap here on penultimate start, but essentially an unreliable low-grade handicapper, and makes limited appeal at this level. Cheekpieces replace blinkers now.
Forecasts
Havana Jane (13/8), Merchant Of Venice (7/2), Midnight Vixen (7/2), Woggle (14/1), Mochalov (16/1), The Celtic Machine (20/1), Interrogation (20/1), Passing Clouds (25/1), Emilene (25/1), Havana Sunrise (66/1)
A weak race in which an eye must be kept on well-bred debutant Havana Jane, but in the absence of market clues, the vote goes to MIDNIGHT VIXEN, who shaped quite well in a stronger contest last time when making her debut for David Simcock. Merchant of Venice is bred to be better than this and should be more clued up than on his debut here.
- Midnight Vixen
- Havana Jane
- Merchant Of Venice
