Rather a mixed bag last year, but improved after 12 months off when short-head third of 9 to Sayesse in a 7f handicap at Chelmsford last time. Seems fairly handicapped on that evidence, and entitled to be sharper for the run.
Being kept busy, and won at Brighton in October. Big chance with a repeat, but he's been a bit below par of late, and only seventh of 13 at Wolverhampton on Saturday.
Still a maiden, and although he ran respectably when 4½L third of 10 to Captain Dan at Wolverhampton recently, he needs to build significantly on that to score here.
Back in the groove when winning a 6f handicap at Kempton last month, but not so good in two subsequent starts, albeit enduring a troubled passage here last time. This trip is arguably beyond his optimum.
Badly out of sorts at present, and fared no better after a break at Kempton in August. Has since left William Knighht for just £800.
Went the wrong way after a fair start for Jessica Harrington, and soundly beaten over hurdles on debut for new yard last time. Tried in cheekpieces now, but makes minimal appeal.
Strong traveller who won twice on Fibresand at Southwell last winter. Back to form when third there last time, but looks opposable on this surface based on previous Polytrack form.
Winner at Kempton four starts back but below that form since, and could finish only seventh in a C&D handicap on latest start. Has won over C&D, but best at 6f.
Placed at Southwell in the spring, but not firing on all cylinders since the summer, and not enough in latest effort to give confidence here, for all he's becoming well treated.
Now 2lb lower than when winning over C&D in January, so needs consideration, but more recent efforts have been less inspiring, and well beaten in a visor at Kempton last time.
Best effort to date when third at Catterick (7f) in August on handicap bow, but not seen since below form at Southwell later that month, and others bring more pressing claims.
Forecasts
Philamundo (7/2), Fieldsman (7/2), Sea Shack (11/2), Deeds Not Words (7/1), Maazel (8/1), Mr Andros (8/1), Bond Street Beau (9/1), Swiss Cross (10/1), Declamation (14/1), Thunderbell (25/1), Golden Footsteps (66/1)
Not many arrive at the top of their game, so PHILAMUNDO, who showed improved form off a lengthy break last time, is given the nod. Fieldsman would win this on his best form, and is respected despite being below his best of late, with Deeds Not Words also shortlisted for all his wins have come over shorter.
- Philamundo
- Fieldsman
- Deeds Not Words
