Winner at Brighton back in August but below that in three starts since. Needs everything to fall right and profile suggests he's better on turf.

14/1
12-race maiden who would have place possibilities on her early consistent form and although the fibresand a valid excuse last time, her form is moving in the wrong direction.

Six-race maiden showed promise on second start but has been very poor in four runs since. Best watched on stable debut.

Built on recent improvement when getting off the mark over C&D here and again a good third in a strong contest following up. Lightly-raced and improving; should go close.

First Link19
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-6| J: S W Kelly| T: Jean-Rene Auvray| OR:  59
8/1
Daughter of First Defence out of a Giant's Causeway mare who was a cheap purchase at 3,000 gns. Wasn't beaten far on her third start over 6f here and should be suited by this trip, however looked an awkward ride.

Altered Method19
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Ray Dawson(5)| T: M H Tompkins| OR:  57
28/1
Showed very little in a pair of maidens in 2017 when trained by Hugo Palmer and sold for just 2,500 gns in May. Failed to impress in a weak event on stable debut and needs to find plenty off this opening mark.

Lost his way in his final two starts as a two-year-old and in two starts after length absence, including on stable debut. Remains best watched.

Emphatic win over C&D in basement grade in February but below that in three runs since for new yard. Remains with plenty to prove.

12/1
Daughter of Kitten's Joy who cost $33,000 as a yearling and £32,000 as a two-year-old. Showed some promise on debut but has failed to build on that in two starts since and plenty to find off this opening mark.

Remains a maiden after nine starts and has not improved for a switch to this yard in three starts. Improvement needed to be involved.

Locommotion18
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-1| J: L Morris| T: Mat Salaman| OR:  54| D

Not beaten far in three runs back and could be competitive but needs a career best to win off current mark and yet to produce his best at this track.

Mr Potterv7
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-13| J: Philip Prince| T: R C Guest| OR:  52| D

Remains on a good mark and did well from a slow start to go close in a lesser grade last time. Best form has come at Chelmsford but unlikely to be far away.

Age: 5|  Weight: 8-13| J: R Kingscote| T: C Wallis| OR:  52| C

Sole win for Chris Gordon came in a lowly Class 7 event here. Well held on stable debut and hard to fancy.

Viola Parkp7
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: David Probert| T: R Harris| OR:  52| CD
11/4
Clearly likes this C&D having won off 8lb higher in May and narrowly denied off 1lb higher last start. Looks likely to go close.

Forecasts

Zahirah (2/1), Viola Park (11/4), Locommotion (8/1), First Link (8/1), Kellington Kitty (12/1), Mr Potter (14/1), Hula Girl (14/1), Tarseekh (14/1), Good Luck Charm (16/1), Elusif (25/1), Altered Method (28/1), Runaiocht (40/1), Cashel (50/1), Holdenhurst (66/1)

Verdict

ZAHIRAH is improving and his latest third over this C&D looked to be in an above average contest for this grade. Viola Park looks to be a horse who is ideally suited by this C&D and rates the danger while Mr Potter is better suited by Chelmsford but remains on an attractive mark.
  1. Zahirah
  2. Viola Park
  3. Mr Potter
