Built on the promise of her Taunton debut (2m, heavy) when she bumped into a useful sort to score 7 months later at Aintree in a mares' bumper on better ground. Came from off the pace in a steadily run race; showed a good turn of foot; useful sort.

Fair form in bumpers although she has yet to reach the level that some of these have shown in three starts. Has filled the runner-up slot on all her runs but will do well to go one better here upped in grade.

Emmas Joy19

16/1
Won her only start in Irish point-to-points and followed that up with a victorious Rules debut at Southwell recently. Displayed a good attitude for one with little experience after being short of room; has to improve a little though at this level.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: C Gethings| T: S Edmunds
50/1
Getaway mare whose dam has some useful jumping relations most notably useful hurdler/chaser Hold Court. 0-3 in Irish point-to-points (failed to complete in first two); faces a tough debut against some useful types.

Giving Back26
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King| D
16/1
Twice a winner in AW bumpers those two performances sandwich her one defeat in a decent mares' bumper at Cheltenham where she reportedly finished lame. Now has to prove that she can win on turf up in grade but yard very capable with bumper runners.
6
Horse silk
Hotter Than Hell260
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: Tom Cannon| T: A King
16/1
Has a decent pedigree and performed well on her only start so far (Newbury Sales bumper) to finish 2nd (held up; travelled well). Should have no trouble winning an ordinary bumper but connections shooting higher here with a return to Newbury likely.
7
Horse silk
4/1
Having taken a mares' bumper on her debut for this yard (one previous bumper run in Ireland) she progressed against the boys last time at Cheltenham. Travelled well but had to wait for a run, finished 3rd; major player here.
8
Horse silk
66/1
Given a considerate introduction at Warwick to finish 4th (outran her 40-1 price); ridden with plenty of patience and given a fair bit to do from well back. Likely to find an ordinary bumper but this may just test her a little too much.
Yard are 2-9 in bumpers this year but it would be a surprise if this one could add to the winning tally. Sister to a useful hurdler/chaser Midnight Cowboy and a half-sister to four winners she is thrown in at the deep end here.
10
Horse silk
40/1
Looks to have improved from her first two runs after a break when showing a little more at Carlisle on her 3rd start (slow away) Finishing effort compromised by a big move into contention and more required to win this.

Horse silk
11/8
Showed that she could be useful when making all on her debut under Rules in a Chepstow bumper (5th has won since). From a good family (mostly staying types) she put her debut to bed in the style of a decent prospect and respected here up in grade.
12
Horse silk
11/1
Wide margin winner (13L) on her Rules debut her point-to-point form wasn't that strong but she belied her 14-1 odds winning easily showing more pace than was expected. This will be harder but the style of her win means she could make her mark in this

Horse silk
Toodlepipt1
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: N D Fehily| T: H FryWS
7/1
Tongue-tie on for her debut (had wind surgery) but comes from a very capable yard in this sphere (3-14 this season). Half-sister to fair hurdler Colt Lightning and one of two runners for the yard in this; looks stable first-string on jockey bookings.

Forecasts

Silver Forever (11/8), Kissesforkatie (4/1), Toodlepip (7/1), Timetochill (11/1), Briery Express (11/1), Emmas Joy (16/1), Giving Back (16/1), Hotter Than Hell (16/1), Eleanorofaquitaine (28/1), Regarding Ruth (40/1), Getaway Mixie (50/1), Magnetize (66/1), Midnight Glen (80/1)

Verdict

A good quality mares’ bumper with the trainer of one of the leading fancies Silver Forever having won the initial running of this race in 2014 and she must have a good chance of giving him another success in the race. Briery Express is another last time out winner who is respected but it’s KISSESFORKATIE that holds most appeal for a yard that is going well and her run against the boys last time was a more than creditable effort. Emmas Joy needs to improve on her form so far but she is capable of that along with the Alan King pair Giving Back and Hotter Than Hell. Timetochill and the unraced Toodlepip are two others to throw into the mix with the market particularly useful on the latter.
  1. Kissesforkatie
  2. Silver Forever
  3. Emmas Joy
