Placed on all three starts so far including when runner-up over C&D on soft ground a month ago. Likely to play a leading role in this contest.
Fair effort when sixth over 2m3f at Taunton (good-to-firm) on debut for this yard last month. More needed if he's to take this contest.

50/1
Placed in a heavy ground bumper at Towcester in March. Struggled over 2m here on hurdling debut last month and probably best watched at present.
Point-to-point winner on yielding-to-soft ground on sole completion in that sphere back in April. Decent third in a 2m novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (good) on Rules debut last month.

Promising fourth in a bumper over an extended 1m7f at Wincanton (good-to-soft) in April. Disappointing in two subsequent starts including last months debut over hurdles.
8
Horse silk
50/1
Fair fifth in a 2m1f bumper at Aintree (good) on debut a month ago. Worth a check in the market switched to hurdles.
9
Horse silk
11/8
Point-to-point and bumper winner on heavy ground. Finished runner-up at Ffos Las (2m, heavy) on hurdles debut last time out and is one for the shortlist stepping up in distance.
10
Horse silk
10/1
Promising third in a point-to-point on yielding-to-soft ground in February. Fair sixth beaten 20L in a C&D maiden hurdle on soft ground last month and improvement likely.

Beaten when falling two out in a heavy ground 2m maiden hurdle on debut at Sandown last month. Probably best watched at present.
Heavy ground bumper winner in January but struggled on final start in that sphere in the spring and it was a similar story on hurdling debut at Newton Abbot (2m1f, heavy) in October.
Struggled in three starts to date including when falling in a 2m novice hurdle at Hereford (good) last month. Others hold stronger claims.
Placed in a couple of Listed bumpers last season but proved a disappointment on hurdling debut at Kempton (2m, good) last month. Softer ground forecast here likely to suit better.

Placed in a point-to-point in November 2016 and ran well to finish third in a bumper on Rules debut at Exeter (2m1f, soft) a year ago. Interesting to see how she fares on hurdling debut.

Forecasts

Smiths Cross (11/8), Dominateur (13/8), Storm Arising (10/1), Peeping Tom (12/1), Cavok (12/1), Woulduadamandeveit (14/1), Storm Wizard (33/1), Save The Pennies (33/1), Secret Reprieve (50/1), J'Ai Froid (50/1), Summit Like Herbie (66/1), Ruffling Feathers (66/1), Iwilldoit (100/1), Big Man Clarence (100/1), Telson Barley (100/1), Game In The Park (150/1)

Verdict

SMITHS CROSS shaped as if this extra distance would suit when placed last time out and he is taken to get off the mark at the second attempt over hurdles in this large field novice event. Dominateur sets the standard on form and he is taken to finish runner-up following a good effort here last time out while third can go to Storm Arising who represents a leading stable.
  1. Smiths Cross
  2. Dominateur
  3. Storm Arising
