Horse A-Z
Newcomer by Midnight Legend a half-brother to a 5f/6f flat and 2m-2m4f chase winner. Yard none from 17 in bumpers the last five seasons so best watched.
€19,000 son of My Risk is a half-brother to chase winners over 2m1f and 2m6f. Leading yard capable of success in such races including with newcomers so market check advised.

Elzaam gelding kept on for a never nearer sixth on debut at Huntingdon over 1m5½f. Extra 2f sure to help and with one of the few with experience here he is likely to be in the mix where it matters.

10/3
Newcomer by crack flat stallion Nathaniel out of a very well related German 1m1f-1m2f winning dam. Flat bred so likely more precocious than many and certainly one of the most likely debutants with the champion aboard.

8/1
Arakan newcomer is a half-brother to classy flat (inc. Group Two) and hurdles stayer Thomas Hobson and a 1m winner on the flat. Leading yard already two from 10 in bumpers this season so market check required.

Newcomer by Thewayyouare, a classy French two-year-old is a half-brother to a 1m2f-1m4f winner and a bumper/hurdle winner at 2m-2m3f. Yard not known for bumper success but in excellent form of late.

€60,000 son of Nathaniel is the 16th foal by his dam and a brother to nine flat winners including dual 2000 Guineas winner Cockney Rebel. Trainer more known for flat horses for which this one is bred, speedy pedigree and respected.
Half-brother to smart hurdlers and chasers Runswick Royal and Nuts Well and cost connections a pretty penny. Step up needed having finished seventh at Huntingdon on debut but every chance of that.

50/1
Canford Cliffs newcomer went unsold as a yearling half-brother to three flat winners from 6f-1m2f. Mostly flat yard's second ever bumper runner and first went unplaced.
Passing Glance half-brother to three winners. Should have a bit of pace about him. Trainer runs two here and jockey booking suggests he is the pick so merits respect.

Newcomer by crack jumps sire Martaline cost €52,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to three winners most notably high class hurdler and chaser Pont Alexandre. Very attractive pedigree but possibly one for further down the line.

Horse silk
6/1
55,000gns son of Youmzain is a full-brother to dual 1m5f bumper winner White Valiant and half-brother to four flat winners. Attractive enough pedigree but second string of stable on jockey bookings.
Intikhab newcomer out of an unplaced dam from a good family of flat and hurdles performers. Trainer has few bumper runners but has a winner this term although on paper this filly isn't as appealing as some.
Third of 11 in lone French bumper and only beaten 4L. Hard to gauge that form but fact Willie Mullins now trains the two ahead hints that race may well have been decent so not dismissed by any means.

Forecasts

Dimmesdale (10/3), Handsome Samson (9/2), Sheshoon Sonny (6/1), Perfect Predator (6/1), Prudhomme (6/1), Fearless (8/1), Furia D'Oudairies (8/1), Chance A Tune (16/1), Cotswold Prince (25/1), Grange Walk (33/1), Noble Saffron (33/1), Born At Midnight (40/1), One Handsome Dude (50/1), Auntie Neila (50/1)

Verdict

11 of the 14 runners here are newcomers and with the three who have run not tearing up any trees this group can dominate proceedings. Flat bred duo DIMMESDALE and Handsome Samson are the most appealing with slight preference for the former. The duo both have top jockeys booked which suggests expectations are high. Of those to have run Cotswold Prince just about edges it having finished narrowly ahead of Noble Saffron on their respective debuts at Huntingdon.
  1. Dimmesdale
  2. Handsome Samson
  3. Cotswold Prince
