Good jumping pedigree, related to plenty of winners and he made a good impression himself when an easy winner of a maiden hurdle here in October. Penalty to carry for that but should improve again, and looks a player.

6/1
First start for new yard (who are going well), bumper winner on debut for Philip Hobbs last year but a disappointing favourite at Hexham latest. Possible new yard can turn him around. Watch market for a clue.

33/1
Sent off a huge price for a Newbury novice hurdle but was far from disgraced in finishing midfield. Likely to do better again, with the step up in trip likely to suit, but plenty on his plate all the same.
Only moderate form in two starts, nicely bred (half brother to Thedellercheckout) and likely to improve at some point but may be best watched here.
6
Horse silk
100/1
In good hands but well beaten all three starts and looks more of a long-term project. No realistic chance here.
7
Horse silk
40/1
Point-to-point winner in April, but two starts so far have revealed only limited ability. Likely to do better in handicaps down the line.
8
Horse silk
40/1
Slowly getting the hang of things and hasn't been totally disgraced in two hurdles starts, the application of a tongue tie improving things a bit last time, but would be better off with a few of these in handicaps. Lot to do.
Done little in two starts for this yard to suggest he's up to challenging the principals here. Easily passed over.
Decent form when placed in two bumpers, parted company early with his jovkey at Chepstow on hurdles debut though and that won't have helped his confidence. Chance if recovering the earlier form but may be best watched here.

Done very little in two starts to suggest that he's up to taking a hand in this. Easily passed over.

Second in a big field at Punchestown on debut last year but two starts for new yard saw him finish well beaten, running too freely both times. Has had time to mature and possible you may see a different horse today. Yard going well.
Beaten three lengths by The Some Dance Kid in a bumper last year at Catterick but hasn't really progressed since then, and likely to find a few of these too good for him.

Caught the eye when fourth at Stratford early last month staying on nicely from the rear and looking like one to watch, but winner has rather let the form down since and he needs plenty more today.
15
Horse silk
28/1
Not a bad first try when fourth (at 50-1) at Ludlow on debut but looked weak in the finish and may need more time.

Done nothing in a handful of starts so far to suggest that she's up to taking a hand in the finish here, and others readily preferred.

Forecasts

Shantaluze (7/4), Not Normal (3/1), Flash The Steel (4/1), The Butcher Said (9/2), Arthur Mac (6/1), Twotwothree (12/1), Vamanos (20/1), A Little Chaos (28/1), Baddesley Prince (33/1), Hard To Forget (40/1), Lookforarainbow (40/1), Global Anchor (50/1), Mid Day Gun (66/1), Goodthyneaway (100/1), On Parole (100/1), Nellemani (200/1)

Verdict

Shantaluze looks sure to be on the premises again after his facile win here last time out, but may find the concession of a penalty to FLASH THE STEEL just a bit too hard. The selection was second in a race that's already working out well, and looks the one to beat. The Butcher Said is a riskier proposition but if settling better, might well take a big step forward. Not Normal is the other that enters calculations and can't be discounted.
  1. Flash The Steel
  2. Shantaluze
  3. The Butcher Said
