Consistency not his strong point, as demonstrated by a poor effort at Hereford last time after a narrow win at Warwick thew time before. New mark has kicked in now and any rain probably against him as well, so others preferred.

Straw to cling to is his close second over slightly shorter here in April, and the fact he's now some 5lb lower than that run, but that's down to a series of pretty poor efforts in the meantime. Risky, to say the least.
Looked all over the winner at Market Rasen until perennial loser L'es Fremantle had his day in the sun, but all the same that's as good a piece of recent form on show. Needs the rain to stay away but if it does, looks a leading player.

Was in good form in the summer, winning one at Worcester in June, and may have needed recent outing to put him straight. Another for whom good ground seems essential, and holds chances if it stays on the quick side.

Close second over C&D here in April but form since then has rather fallen off a cliff, and yard still struggling for winners (just one in the last four months). Others readily make more appeal.

Not disgraced in better events than this last two starts, although a bit weak with his finishing efforts. Change of headgear today might work the oracle and this trip probably ideal. One to consider.

Getting on in years, not a frequent winner but did come good at Market Rasen in the spring. However, much lesser efforts since then and it now takes a bit of a leap of faith to get with him.

Just one win in 22 starts but has only tackled fences twice, and didn't do too badly when fourth at Lingfield in a similar event to this earlier in the month. Is one horse that might appreciate a bit of rain, and can't be easily discounted.

One win in 19 starts, that coming back in 2014, and mark is falling through the floor after a series of pretty moderate efforts. Hard to make much of a case for at present.

Well over two years since he last won one, form this year has been poor and the addition of a visor last time did little to halt the slide. Not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.

Forecasts

Mister Mister (10/3), Jonagold (5/1), Follow The Swallow (6/1), Charlie Papa Lima (8/1), Midnight Mustang (8/1), Auenwirbel (8/1), Bally Lagan (8/1), Daveron (9/1), Is Love Alive (12/1), Upham Running (16/1)

Verdict

Low grade stuff. Plenty of these find winning hard and a few will be hoping the rain stays away too. Follow The Swallow looks the obvious one after a decent effort at Market Rasen but both Mister Mister and UPHAM RUNNING make some appeal at likely bigger prices and are worth consideration. The former will appreciate a drop in grade and the latter might have a bit of improvement to come over fences, despite being a 10yo. He gets the vote in an open event.
  1. Upham Running
  2. Mister Mister
  3. Follow The Swallow
