€110,000 purchase unseated at the ninth when still going well enough on chasing debut at Galway. Also fell in one of his two point-to-points so jumping is the concern at this stage.
Never better than 10th in three hurdle races and beaten over 30L in each of them. Pulled up on recent chasing debut behind a potentially smart one although rivals here have every bit as much potential.

Winner of the Grade One Royal Bond last term subsequently finished third in Supreme Novices at Cheltenham and Champion Novice at Punchestown. Flat bred so fences an unknown but given connections can expect him to jump well; win if he does.

Navan novice winner last term ran well to be second next in a Listed novice event before finding further step up in class beyond him. Should appreciate fences but will do well to manage anything better than a place here.
Maiden hurdle winner has been beaten 22L and 67L in two chases since switching to larger obstacles this term. Surely struggle here.

Useful dual hurdle winner was made favourite for chase debut but unseated two out when in with a chance. Third next at Navan saw him jump better and has each-way possibilities here.

Four-time hurdle winner including at Grade Two and Three levels in mares only contests. Finished third of five on recent chase debut at Galway where a mistake two out proved costly but looks the most likely danger to the expected hot favourite.
Filly was game to win Clonmel maiden in November on third start over hurdles. Well adrift in first two chases at Gowran this term and vulnerable in this company.

Unplaced in all five hurdle races and 10L seventh at Roscommon the best he managed. Huge step up needed now switched to fences.

Forecasts

Mengli Khan (8/11), Forge Meadow (9/4), Trainwreck (5/1), Riders Onthe Storm (10/1), Princely Conn (14/1), Call A Cab (20/1), Speaker Connolly (28/1), Manger Et Trotter (40/1), Thatbeatsbanagher (50/1), Connard (50/1), Disco Musik (100/1)

Verdict

MENGLI KHAN was a top class novice hurdler last term winning the Royal Bond and only going down by 2L in the Supreme at Cheltenham when third. Such form makes him a formidable opponent for these rivals and with a clear round he is expected to win this. Forge Meadow is the danger, Jessie Harrington's smart mare is only rated 5lb inferior and gets 7lb from the selection. Trainwreck should be winning races soon enough and rates best of the rest.
