A return of five wins from 16 starts over hurdles is a decent strike-rate and she comes here off a break but also seeking a hat-trick having won consecutive handicap hurdles. This is tougher though with the ground being quicker than she likes.

Built on a promising novice season where she won twice over hurdles (over the top on her last start) to return with a career-best best performance in a Wincanton handicap. Did show a couple of errant signs there but worth a try at this level.

Did well last year winning four times (a mix of hurdles and fences) but took a couple of heavy falls in Graded chases subsequently. Brought back over hurdles off her summer break with a pleasing handicap win and well up to this class; leading chance.

No wins on her record since taking back-to-back races in the summer of 2017, the second a handicap off 122 (both races over 2m4f). Has shaped well in handicaps since then but given a stiff task over an inadequate trip on her return in this company.

Forecasts

Mia's Storm (4/6), If You Say Run (7/4), Whatzdjazz (16/1), Culture De Sivola (20/1)

Verdict

Some useful mares’ have won this contest and MIA’S STORM could well be adding her name to that roll of honour having shown some smart form over hurdles and fences before a couple of chasing falls made connections abort her fencing exploits. She still has plenty of potential and targets to aim for in this sphere and will enjoy the ground plus her advantage at the weights on official ratings. If You Say Run has come up just short the last twice she has been tried at this level and higher but there was a lot to like about her comeback run and she provides the main danger. Both Whatzdjazz and Culture De Sivola have to prove themselves at this level and should battle for the minor place.
  1. Mia's Storm
  2. If You Say Run
  3. Culture De Sivola
