Grand stamp of a horse who has always looked the type to surpass his hurdling achievements when sent chasing. Was amongst the pick of these over the smaller obstacles and scored on seasonal bow last year.

Form went into decline for Philip Hobbs and he was bought out of the yard for £7,000. Yet to convince over fences but this would be an easier task than previous attempts.

Winner of an amateur race on the Flat here during the summer. Well beaten at Southwell over hurdles last time and has had wind surgery since. Debuts for new yard and having first run over fences for two years. Hurdles form gives him plenty to find.

Sold out of Gordon Elliot's yard for £25,000 prior to two runs on the Flat and in a Class 2 hurdle. Placed in three chases this summer but usual headgear is absent. Yard not afraid to take on the layers so worth noting in the market.

Winner here over hurdles and progressed to attain a rating of 126 which would give him every chance here. Tends to need a run though and that could be the case for chase debut.

Formerly trained by Nicky Richards, he finished runner-up in Hexham novice hurdle but below-par since and has undergone wind surgery ahead of his chase debut.

Forecasts

Barton Knoll (11/10), Reverant Cust (3/1), Crezic (4/1), Braavos (9/1), Tetraites Style (12/1), Buyer Beware (22/1)

Verdict

Crezic has vital chase experience and good ground is in his favour. Hopefully he is more straightforward than he was in Ireland as his regular headgear is absent. Reverant Cust improved last year but has tended to need a run, whilst Braavos is a 132-rated hurdler who has lost his way since going chasing and has been shipped out of Philip Hobbs' yard for a modest price. BARTON KNOLL has the stamp of a chaser and achieved enough over hurdles to suggest he is more than capable of holding his own against today's rivals. He won first time out last year and has excellent prospects of doing likewise here.
