Gelding by Robin De Pres out of a Un Desperado mare. Plenty of stamina in the pedigree, little to enthuse about in four starts over timber so far, switches focus for the first time.
Will have learned plenty from 1L third of five on chase bow at Down Royal over similar trip this month and 139-rated hurdler should have more to offer in this sphere.
Best hurdles form (both wins) came over this trip, likely best forgiven sub-par efforts at spring festivals when last spotted and one to note in the betting returning to action for chase bow.
Work to do with some of these on hurdles form and hardly inspiring to see him tailed off on both recent chase starts, plenty more needed.
Asked some tough questions last year over fences, behind the likes of Presenting Percy, may want more emphasis on stamina but has run well over this C&D before. Back from a layoff and respected.
Unable to open account in seven chase starts last season, went closest in 2m heavy-ground Gowran Park handicap off 127 in February. Needs more it seems.
Fair hurdler (bit to find with plenty of these), with winning form over this trip. Possibly will have more to offer over fences in time, market can guide on debut in this sphere.
Lightly-raced Grade 1-winning novice hurdler last season, with success over 2m6f, stays 3m and ran credible races in top novice company at Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals. Interesting recruit to this sphere.
Work to do with these rivals on hurdles form, may have needed the run on chasing bow at Galway recently when disappointing favourite. Not written off and interesting to see if money comes again.
Forecasts
Mall Dini (7/4), Tower Bridge (7/2), Ben Dundee (9/2), Whisperinthebreeze (7/1), Beyond The Law (7/1), Sir Carno (16/1), Scoir Mear (16/1), Duke Cass (66/1), An Droichead Gorm (100/1)
MALL DINI boasts enough experience in amongst strong opposition last season to feel he can overcome the trip, which is a bit sharper than ideal, and get his first success over fences. Tower Bridge is very interesting going chasing, just ahead of fellow newcomer Beyond The Law. Whisperinthebreeze was well-backed on his fencing bow and failed to deliver – he may do better – while Ben Dundee is a player with improvement likely after a solid start at Down Royal in this sphere.
- Mall Dini
- Tower Bridge
- Ben Dundee
