Step back in the right direction when sixth at Chelmsford last week when trying front running tactics. This a touch weaker and a bold run wouldn't surprise.
Does all his AW running at Newcastle and back at his optimum trip now but still above last winning mark and high draw to overcome.
Well treated if coming back to best and all his form is on a turning track but generally below par this term and others preferred.
Hampered latest so that run can be ignored but does his racing at shorter so stamina to prove at 7f.
Lots of course form and comes here off the back of a creditable third in a stronger race at Musselburgh where the runner up has boosted the form. Plum draw and looks a serious player.
Off since June but has run well after a break before. Goes well here and one to note if the market is positive.
Took advantage of a plummeting mark on this surface when bolting up over C&D last week. That was a weak race but is 2lb well in now and overcame similarly wide draw then.
Hopes rest on a return to this venue having performed well when fourth in similar event in July but form otherwise this year has been very disappointing.
Plenty of course form including a pair of wins at this time last year. Without a win since though signs of a return to best at Newcastle a week ago.
Has the ability to play a part but has never been the easiest to predict and others preferred in this grade.
Dual Dundalk winner this time last year but not so good since switch in yards though entitled to come on for his latest run after a break.
Front-runner who won a Chester novice event with little depth to it and has been below par in a couple of goes since.
Forecasts
Majdool (9/4), Newstead Abbey (6/1), Canford's Joy (7/1), Grey Destiny (8/1), Shamlan (10/1), Gun Case (10/1), Rockesbury (12/1), Sultan Baybars (12/1), Pass The Cristal (14/1), Peachey Carnehan (16/1), Fingal's Cave (20/1), No Approval (20/1)
NEWSTEAD ABBEY ticks quite a few boxes and is preferred to Majdool who has to be feared after his romp here a week ago. Sultan Baybars makes most appeal of the remainder.
- Newstead Abbey
- Majdool
- Sultan Baybars
