Fetched 75,000gns in November 2012; has clearly had issues and makes his belated first racecourse appearance in a bumper at the age of six, for a trainer who has saddled just one previous runner under National Hunt rules.
Cost £4,500 as a yearling (sold unraced for €5,000 in August 2017); half-brother to the bumper winner Harambe; trainer not known for supplying winners in these type of events (17-375 (5%) since 1995).
Half-brother to the 1m1f-2m winner Fourth Generation and also the bumper scorer Grandmaster George; hooded on debut at Sedgefield in May (9/2), finishing a hopelessly tailed-off eleventh of 12 to Master Debonair (raced far too keenly early on).
Out of an unraced dam who was a half-sister to the bumper and 2m4f hurdle winner Ravens Rock; started 8/1 on debut at Carlisle (2m1f, soft) in April when finishing 8¾L fourth to Largy Glory.
Mixed stamina messages in his pedigree and his form thus far in bumpers is exceptionally poor; first run for Ann Hamilton after leaving the care of Phil Kirby; not considered on first outing for 485-days.
Half-brother to a couple of dual purpose scorers; joined James Ewart for £2,500 in May 2018; beaten 22L in a PTP bumper at Garthorpe (soft) for previous trainer Peter Mason.
Half-brother to the 70-rated jumps maiden Haafaprincess (0-5); debuts for North Yorkshire trainer Peter Niven (4-40 (10%) in NHF races over the last five seasons).
Cost €28,000 as a 3yo and has attracted plenty of newspaper column inches as a Rich Ricci-owned Northern-trained jumps runner; dam was a French Flat (1m4f) and hurdles (2m1f) scorer; standout contender in a very weak looking bumper.
Her dam Shardda was a Barathea mare, but showed little under rules (12-race maiden for this trainer between 2003 and 2006); impossible to build any sort of realistic case regarding her chances.
Third foal from an unraced dam (Piece of Pie); trainer yet to saddle a winner of a NHF race since taking out her training license in 2015 (0-7).
Forecasts
Wilhelm Vonvenster (4/6), Just Call Me Al (3/1), Malystic (13/2), Dothraki Prince (10/1), Look Now (25/1), Fast And Friendly (40/1), Beauty Dragon (40/1), Little Bavington (40/1), Lucyhilucylow (40/1), Piccalilli Pie (50/1)
Early days for these young horses with 60% of those declared seeing the racecourse for the very first time. However, based upon pedigrees and sales values this doesn't look like being a race which will provide a regular source of future winners. The ground conditions will be plenty quick enough for WILHELM VONVENSTER, but he's by far the likeliest winner. His trainer Nicky Richards saddled a potentially useful NHF winner (Ribble Valley) at Ayr recently and boasts an impressive 30% strike-rate in bumpers (24-81) over the past five seasons.
