Returned from a break to be well beaten in latest two starts. All eight wins have been on the AW so will appreciate the move away from turf but remains on a high mark.
Progressive in early 2017 but he gave the impression the handicapper had caught up with him towards the end of that campaign. Well held on Ripon return and best watched despite drop in class.
Previous C&D winner who bounced back to form to win at Salisbury and ran to a similar level back here latest. Others probably better handicapped but can be involved.
Won a three-runner event at Nottingham before not being disgraced in Listed company. One place in front of Helvetian over this C&D last time and remains lightly-raced. Can be competitive again.
Not disgraced at York latest but better on turf and a bit to find on his run over this C&D the time before. Others look stronger candidates.
Posted a career-best over 5f at Chelmsford last start and better suited by this trip. Has returned in really good form and should be spot on for this.
Wolverhampton maiden winner may appreciate a return to an artificial surface after two well beaten efforts on turf. Down in grade but others probably better handicapped.
Has run to a consistent level in four starts since being gelded but yet to add to debut success and this is a tough ask on AW debut.
Went handicapping off a stiff initial mark, but quickly dropped 11lb before scoring in cheekpieces at Chelmsford. Defied 4lb rise in battling style over this C&D and faces another 5lb rise and better opposition.
Forecasts
Merlin (3/1), Eljaddaaf (9/2), Documenting (5/1), Zain Hana (6/1), Helvetian (6/1), Chookie Dunedin (9/1), Busby (10/1), Watchable (20/1), Excellent George (20/1)
Busby has really taken to cheekpieces and a drop to this trip and can make a bold bid for a hat-trick. This is stronger company though and EXCELLENT GEORGE is taken to go one better than his very good latest second, now he's back over his ideal trip. Zain Hana and Helvetian are closely matched on their C&D form and shouldn't be far away.
- Excellent George
- Busby
- Zain Hana
