Appeared to enjoy the ease in grade last time plus the addition of a tongue-tie to his usual blinkers. Made all but still needed plenty of driving along and not straightforward at all; not sure to be in the same mood off 6lb higher.

This will be his 3rd run for this yard and already he's looking in better shape having run well in two conditions events for amateurs in the spring. Handicaps give him far more chance and his mark is quite attractive if he's ready to go after a break

On a long losing run and not an easy one to trust (often moves well through a race and delivers little end product). May well be better than recent form figures imply and he's getting to be well handicapped but earlier comments still apply.

May well have been a case of job done when winning two races for the Skelton yard having arrived there looking well handicapped. Pulled up after the two wins and quickly moved on to current connections for £800; questions to answer on stable debut.

Took this contest two years ago off the same mark with his last win getting on for nearly two years ago coming over the same C&D. Generally runs at the West Country tracks; lazy and moody individual though who is hard to trust.

On the upside he's been given a big chance by the handicapper compared to his old marks but on the downside he's already struggled off this mark over hurdles. Shaped like he needed the run last time over a trip too short; comes with risks attached.

0-7 over fences and his confidence over the larger obstacles appears to have been affected by a fall around a year ago. Last seen out over hurdles he should be capable off this mark but his lack of chasing success remains a drawback.

Like a few in this field this three-time course winner is on a good mark but has shown very little of late in this sphere. A very thorough stayer his return a Ludlow was far too sharp a test and may take time to get going even over this 3m.

Hurdles winner back in March at Chepstow on soft ground off a 12lb lower mark he's only had one previous try over fences. Shaped as if in need of the experience then and this mark requires a little more than he's shown so far.

Has made a good impression over fences since transferring to this yard and had yet to finish out of the first three. A winner at Fontwell in February off a 3lb lower mark he looked to need his return run but should go much closer now.

Forecasts

Sartorial Elegance (4/1), Redmond (4/1), Cornish Warrior (4/1), Bears Rails (9/2), Heluvagood (6/1), Cabragh (8/1), Umberto D'olivate (9/1), Gorsky Island (10/1), Sonoftheking (10/1), Pink Gin (12/1), Only Gorgeous (16/1), Mrsrobin (66/1)

Verdict

Two previous winners of this race try their luck again although neither last year’s winner Sonoftheking and the 2016 winner Umberto D’Olivate make a huge amount of appeal this time around. Bears Rails showed better form last time but he’s no banker to be in the same mood this time around off a 6lb higher mark. Cornish Warrior struggled with the rise in grade at Cheltenham last time but back in this class is expected to run well. Overall though REDMOND could well be the most progressive of these; he would have needed his return run but up in trip and still off a good mark he’s taken to record his second chase win of his career. Cabragh and Sartorial Elegance should be noted in the market.
  1. Redmond
  2. Cornish Warrior
  3. Cabragh
