Runner-up in an Irish point-to-point he was a winner on his hurdling debut at Worcester defeating an odds-on favourite over 2f further than he travels today. Should be capable of progress despite having to carry a penalty.

Placed in point-to-points he looked as though he needed the run on his debut at Worcester (dropped away from 3 out). Will need more to trouble the principals here although he may enjoy the softer surface.

Hurdles debut having looked very much in need of the experience on his bumper debut. Stoutly bred sort who will enjoy who will enjoy this trip but may need a little practice before he's a viable prospect; one of three in the race for the trainer.

From the family of Denman so far he's been rather backward and needed time having only run in two bumpers; debut effort the better of the two (ran too free last time). Good chance he'll be a different proposition over hurdles; back from a break.

Showed promise on his hurdles debut behind a stablemate but he's a winner in point-to-points and the 2m trip proved much too sharp for him. This trip looks much more to his liking and from a top yard could well improve here.

Only ran once for Harry Fry (runner-up in a bumper) faring the best of the debutantes in the race; had a hard race. Now makes his hurdles debut having been given some time off and starting out for a new yard on ground he should enjoy.
8

Shaped with some promise on his hurdles debut but a slow jump some way out sealed his fate and he's likely to need this run. Others preferred and faces a stiff task; tongue tie on for first-time.

Bought for £80,000 as a four-year-old he finished runner-up on his only Irish point-to-point start (beaten 8L). Now makes his Rules debut and probably best watched.

Very much shaped like a stayer on his only run so far in a Wincanton bumper (finished 3rd) behind a smart pair. Trainer has spoken well about him in recent interviews but has warned he's still inexperienced but will enjoy this trip.

Useful on the Flat (won at Listed level) when with his previous yard he's done very little since joining his present stable. Only had one hurdles run so far over 2m and looks as though this trip will suit if regaining his form.

Scored on his 3rd bumper start having shown some good form in that sphere and was well backed to do so at Towcester in May. Still looked as though he needed the experience but should do better in time now that he starts out over hurdles.

Runner-up in his last two point-to-points and comes from a yard that have done well with his sort over hurdles. Has had some wind surgery and now makes his Rules/hurdling debut; worth looking at in the market.

One of two runners in the contest for this trainer with this one having got off the mark in point-to-points at the second attempt; finishing alone. One of the lesser lights in this race.

Failed to quite get home in his only Rules start so far in a Towcester bumper showing some inexperience. Now makes his hurdles debut for a yard that know the time of day in this sphere' one to note in the market.

Gained plenty of experience in point-to-points having run eight times in that discipline winning on her 6th start. Likely to be outclassed here though with some powerful; West Country stables represented.

Verdict

The card opens with what should be an informative contest with Orchard Thieves the only winner in the field and having to carry a penalty against some likely types. Pick of the hurdling newcomers may well prove to be dual course bumper winner TIME TO MOVE ON who looks an exciting prospect. Diomede Des Mottes has already shown that he has ability over hurdles and is expected to improve for his debut. There are plenty of others to note though with Densfirth, Nestor Park, Lamanver Pippin and Shaughnessy.
  1. Time To Move On
  2. Diomede des Mottes
  3. Orchard Thieves
