Not really bred to be a chaser but off the mark at the first attempt over slightly shorter at Huntingdon having won off 1lb lower over hurdles. That win came off a break and he looked fit enough for his return so may not have much progress left.

Despite the small field and intriguing little contest where JOVIAL JOEY is taken to defy his 5lb rise in the weights for his good Market Rasen runner-up slot last time to one who has continued to run well since and won a 0-150 handicap at Aintree last time. The Rose Dobbin yard has yet to really get going this year but they have a nice prospect in Some Reign who impressed on his chasing debut and is unexposed over this trip. Fixed Rate faces a stiffer task than last time and his mark may well find him out while it’s hoped that Shanroe In Milan can build on his first season over fences although he’ll need to jump better.
