Won a handicap at Bath in May and best effort since came when placed in a Listed race at Sandown the following month. Form has been poor since but drops appreciably in class and new mark gives her a realistic chance.

Won at Sandown in June and went close on four subsequent outings this summer. Has form on Tapeta and may have needed first run following wind surgery at Kempton last month.

Model of consistency this season and has won twice at Wolverhampton (AW) and Leicester over 7f. Finding life tougher off her new mark and doubts this will be run at the strong pace she craves.

Has been blowing hot and cold since her last success but now just 1lb higher and returns to a track where she is 4-7.

Haydock handicap winner in August, but has finished out of the money in three subsequent contests. Has a mountain to climb having finished last of seven on most recent start.

Has won four of her last six but now requires another career best and her AW form shows that may be a problem.

Beat the useful Indian Tygress at Wolverhampton before finding faster conditions against her at Ayr. Exceptionally well-handicapped on that winning form if a three month break and the application of cheekpieces are not masking significant issues.

Five-time turf winner who once again proved she is far less effective on artificial surfaces here last month. Well beaten on turf next time and plenty to prove.

Island Of Life (15/8), Oriental Lilly (7/2), Island Cloud (4/1), Tricksy Spirit (9/1), Twilight (12/1), Meerpat (12/1), Play Mate (14/1), Penny Pot Lane (16/1)

Verdict

Play Mate sets a poser given the value of her Wolverhampton victory has been enhanced by the subsequent exploits of the runner-up. An initial mark of 70 looks very generous, but a three month absence and the fitting of headgear mean the market should be monitored for clues to her wellbeing. Oriental Lilly has a fabulous record here in contrast to Twilight. ISLAND OF LIFE handles this surface well and shaped as though she would appreciate a return to this trip last time when returning from a break.
