Didn't show much when making his debut at Newmarket in July, but heavily backed and massively improved to win a C&D novice by 7L, making all. Sets the standard despite a penalty.
Went close on debut at Salisbury and built on that when making all for a comfortable success over C&D in a similar contest. Penalty makes life tougher, but he should continue to progress.
Shaped with lots of promise despite looking green on debut at Salisbury (1m), and faced a stiffish task in a valuable sales race at Longchamp on Arc weekend. May yet do better.
Fetched £44,000 at the breeze-up sales in April, but was never competitive on debut at Yarmouth in June. Entitled to do better for the experience, but this looks tough.
Swiss Spirit half-brother to three winners from 5f-1m3f. Showed ability when 12¼L sixth of 11 to Shoot For Gold on debut at Windsor (1m½f, soft). Plenty more required, but ought to do better.
Gelding by Mazameer who makes little appeal on pedigree, and finished last of 7 on debut at Chepstow, beaten 26L.
Cheaply-bought half-brother to 2-y-o 6f winner Electric Landlady. Needed experience when last of 8 in 7f novice here on debut in September, and gelded since. Plenty to find.
Shaped with plenty of promise in a 7f Yarmouth maiden which has thrown up several winners on racecourse bow, so disappointing that he's not built on that in two subsequent starts, looking awkward (hung left) at Chelmsford last time.
Lawman half-brother to 1¾m winner Rock'n Gold and 1m winner Briscola. Not particularly expensive given connections, but still merits a market check for yard with a good record with debutants.
Homebred filly bred with stamina in mind, and showed a little ability in two runs at up to 1m last month. Has a third quick run here, and likely to do better when qualified for handicaps over further.
Cheaply-bought Lethal Force filly out of a sprint maiden. Slowly away when tailed off on debut here in September, and makes no appeal whatsoever now.
By Sea The Stars out of 2-y-o 6f winner, so fits the bill on pedigree, but 35,000 gns a cheap price for one with her breeding, so caution advised unless market speaks in her favour. Yard won division of this race last year.
Forecasts
Jahbath (1/2), Ours Puissant (4/1), Spice Of Life (9/1), Snow Storm (10/1), Crackaway (20/1), Fares Alpha (25/1), Tammooz (25/1), Gin Palace (33/1), Sea Of Marengo (100/1), Lady Reset (100/1), Shadow Force (100/1), Lucky Severn (100/1)
OURS PUISSANT and Jahbath both impressed when making all in similar events last time, and are taken to dominate again, with Hugo Palmer's charge just given the nod. Neither Tammooz nor Spice of Life broke the bank considering connections, but hail from yards which do well in such races, and both need to be monitored in the market.
- Ours Puissant
- Jahbath
- Tammooz
