Useful on the Flat for Richard Fahey, 2-2 for Gordon Elliott over hurdles and showed impressive turn of foot to land the spoils at Gowran Park last time out. Ground ideal and looks one of the big players here.

Only moderate on the Flat but showed a bit of ability at Uttoxeter on hurdles debut, jumping a bit novicey at times but not beaten far and will improve. Biting off a bit more than he can chew here, however.

Had ability on the Flat for Keith Dalgleish but devilishly hard to win with. seemed to stay 10f well so trip won't be an issue but may needs sights lowering a little. Best watched on hurdles debut today for Jennie Candlish.

Improving and took his first three hurdles starts with the minimum of fuss but found useful Flat sort Jack Regan too quick at Market Rasen, and jumping wasn't great either. Clear chance on form but possibly vulnerable to an improver now.

Showed ability on the Flat for Ger Lyons but even better on first hurdles start for new yard when a ready winner over C&D a fortnight ago, despite early keenness in the race. Jumped well there and with improvement likely, has to be considered here.

2-2 for this yard over hurdles and quietly impressive on debut at Uttoxeter, coming right away in the closing stages. Worry might be that this ground could be quick enough, as he looks more a galloping type, but more than entitled to run well.

Placed five times on the flat for Andrew Balding and had ability, although hard to win with, and made an acceptable debut for new yard at Chepstow, green and jumping wasn't great. Will do better but may find this a bit too tough at this stage.

7f winner at Ayr this summer but overall she's only moderate and may have stamina issues to boot. Needs the switch to hurdles to have a major transformation and that's unlikely.

Forecasts

Cracker Factory (7/4), Chief Justice (2/1), King D'Argent (11/4), Ormesher (8/1), Pilgrim Soul (22/1), Canadian George (40/1), Alliteration (66/1), Travel Lightly (100/1)

Verdict

A good race for the money. Cracker Factory is the one to beat on what he's achieved so far but it's just possible that he might find others improving past him and CHIEF JUSTICE might be top of that list. He was quite impressive when winning at Gowran Park on his latest start and has taken to hurdles very well. King D'Argent was another to win nicely on debut here last time and will do better if settling. Ormesher would come into this if there's some rain around.
  1. Chief Justice
  2. King D'Argent
  3. Cracker Factory
