Winner of this from a 7lb lower mark last year and looks to have been brought along with this in mind again, only weakening out of it late at Stratford last time and will strip fitter here. One for the shortlist.
Useful enough on his day and defeat of subsequent multiple winner Eric The Third at Cartmel in July reads very well. Patchy record since but has form here and if on a going day (wasn't last time) holds chances in an open event.
Slowly appears to be finding his form and will appreciate this step up in trip after never looking like getting there over 2m at Uttoxeter last time out. Lightly raced and open to improvement, and looks on a dangerous mark now. Has chances.
Made all the running to score at Leicester in February and a faller on only other start after that at Wetherby, looking held at the time. Not seen out since March, new trip to contend with here too and, on balance, others look stronger.
Mark is falling through the floor now but that's down to a series of moderate efforts and although he may have needed recent comeback run, it wasn't a good one and he may need another couple to achieve peak fitness. Not hard to look elsewhere.
Hasn't won one for a couple of years, which is a worry, but came back to a bit of form when second at Hexham latest, looking like a step back up in trip might help. Mark and conditions fine then, and could get involved if jumping fluently.
Some hope to be gleaned if his second at Taunton is to be believed but more moderate efforts than good ones on his dancecard and trainer struggling for any meaningful form. Easy enough to pass over here.
Back-to-back wins in March read plenty well enough in this company but worryingly never went a yard on final start of last year, although may have found ground too quick for him. Could have a similar problem here unless the rain really arrives.
Very infrequent winner, with last win coming at Hexham in 2017, but has switched yards recently and has put in a couple of better efforts since doing so. Overall win record a worry but conditions fine and might hit the frame again here.
Only had the two starts over fences, so arguably open to improvement, and last win did come here, so has a couple of things going for him, but usually beatable and likely to find others quicker.
Forecasts
Diamond Rock (5/2), Notonebuttwo (4/1), North West Wind (4/1), Seven Devils (7/1), Glance Back (15/2), Royal Act (14/1), Centreofexcellence (16/1), Bally Lagan (16/1), My Renaissance (16/1), Roxyfet (40/1)
This looks open, and any number can be given chances. Glance Back would be a danger if getting this new trip, as he might get an easy lead, but he may need this after an absence and preference is for NORTH WEST WIND, who looks about ready to win one after a good effort at Uttoxeter. This slight step up in trip will suit and he can come out on top. Notonebuttwo is well into the veteran stage but might have a bit more to offer for his new yard. My Renaissance is a bit in-and-out but has chances on a going day, and Seven Devils could get involved with a clear round.
- North West Wind
- My Renaissance
- Seven Devils
