Back down in trip to today's distance at Catterick last time and ended a long losing spell taking advantage of a falling mark on just his 4th run for this yard. Only up a couple of pounds for that victory and likely to remain competitive.
On a long losing run but took a step back in the right direction last time over 7f at Musselburgh. This is a drop in class and he's down to a mark that he can win off; not without a chance.
From a yard where it pays to take notice of the market he was never involved on the AW last time when returning from a break (ride was a negative one). Cheekpieces go on for the first-time but still 8lb above his last winning mark; interesting sort.
One of six three-year-olds in this he does have a long losing run to cope with and has yet to win a handicap. He has finished placed this year on turf (looks unexposed on the AW); another placing may be in the offing.
Tongue-tie now gets added to the usual blinkers (worn for both her wins) but despite winning at 6f she does need a test of stamina at this trip. Run last time out is best ignored (hampered) but might be best on the AW anyway.
Best not judged on her run last time (caught wide; all happened too quickly) at Musselburgh over 5f and a return to a furlong further may well suit her. Looks of interest off this sort of mark and not without a chance of breaking a losing run.
Two runner-up slots earlier in the season now appear to be a distant memory as his last three runs back from a break have been poor to say the least. Now looks to have gone the wrong way and one to treat with caution.
Last win came at 6f in the middle of last year off a mark of 75 but it's been all downhill since then and a first-time visor is now employed in an attempt to find some spark. Has looked a hard ride and caution advised with him.
There was some promise in one of his earlier runs at Beverley when shaping better than his final finishing position of 5th over 1m. Gradually dropped in trip (appears to have the speed to cope) but not going with much zest last time.
His mark fell to such an extent that he couldn't fail to break a losing run that stretched back over two years on his penultimate start at Hamilton (6f, soft). Remains well treated on his old form but ran badly up in trip last time.
Only a modest handicapper who last won back in July 2017; offered little on his first run for this yard at Nottingham (5f, soft). Even in this modest grade he makes little appeal.
C&D winner who goes from 6lb out of the handicap who looks to have struggled since winning a 5f seller at Hamilton in the summer. Blinkers go back on but it will need more to spark him into life.
Raced alone when winning at Thirsk over 5f on good ground in June having looked sharper for the addition of headgear. Back in cheekpieces now (blinkers tried last time) but still looks to be operating below her best.

Ventura Secret (5/2), Tadaany (7/1), Mable Lee (8/1), Sfumato (8/1), Gilmer (9/1), Billiebrookedit (10/1), Zorawar (10/1), Declamation (12/1), Optimickstickhill (14/1), Danehill Desert (14/1), Supaulette (16/1), Astrophysics (20/1), Ganton Par (25/1), Camanche Grey (28/1), Gaelic Wizard (33/1), Whigwham (66/1)
As mentioned in the verdict for the first division three-year-olds have done well in this contest and they are quite well represented here with Danehill Desert and Mable Lee looking to hold the best chance for that age group. Ventura Secret took a step back in the right direction last time and this drop in class may well be what he needs to snap his long losing run. Two that are worth noting for a market move are Zorawar and Declamation both from shrewd yards having shown ability. SFUMATO proved effective over this trip last time though and he’s taken to follow up off just a 2lb higher mark.
- Sfumato
- Ventura Secret
- Mable Lee
