8/1
Rattled off a hat-trick before only finding one too good on each of his last two starts. Solid place claims again given the form he's in but perhaps a shade vulnerable to better handicapped types.

Copper Knightt7
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: P Hanagan| T: T D Easterby| OR:  98| D
18/1
Got his head back in front at York a couple of starts back but has historically struggled off this sort of mark and he could only finish fourth of 14 at Catterick last time in a weaker race than this. Others preferred for win purposes.

Line Of Reason12
Age: 8|  Weight: 9-4| J: J P Spencer| T: P T Midgley| OR:  98| D

Has been running well of late and feasibly handicapped on old form but probably would have preferred quicker ground to be seen at his best.

Dakota Gold7
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: T Hamilton| T: M Dods| OR:  98| D
11/1
Narrowly beat re-opposing Tarboosh at Haydock last month and had been in fine form at the end of the summer. Had the excuse of racing alone at Catterick last time and may be able to bounce back here. Probably still in form and has place claims here.

Foolaadt7
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-2| J: R Winston| T: S R Bowring| OR:  96| CD
10/1
Recorded a five-timer earlier in the season (four wins at Southwell) and got back on track last time with a Catterick win with several of these rivals in behind and he won from a higher handicap mark than this on turf earlier in the campaign.

Sir Robert Cheval38
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-2| J: E J Walsh(3)| T: R M H Cowell| OR:  96| D

Useful sprinter on his day but he's been a little below form in three starts this year and others arrive in plenty better form.

Camacho Chief15
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Paula Muir(5)| T: M Dods| OR:  95| D
8/1
Has proved progressive this year for a trainer who does well with his sprinters. Often slowly away but only narrowly denied in his hat-trick bid last time and worthy of respect with a useful apprentice claiming 5lb.

Mayleaf Shineh21
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: J P Sullivan| T: I Jardine| OR:  95| D

Just has two career wins and all her best form has come with plenty of cut in the ground. Has never won from a mark this high and others preferred.

Ornate12
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-0| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: D C Griffiths| OR:  94| D
14/1
Had a decent campaign last summer but has shown very little in five starts for this yard, including after a wind op last time out. Very well-handicapped if he can bounce, though looks a risky proposition at present.

Horse silk
Lord Riddiford14
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-12| J: Jason Hart| T: J & S Quinn| OR:  92| D
25/1
Rattled off a hat-trick earlier in the campaign but seemingly found out from his revised mark in deeper races on his last few starts and may need relief from the assessor.

Horse silk
Abel Handy22
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-12| J: S Donohoe| T: D Carroll| OR:  92| D
14/1
Won three races as a juvenile including a Group 3 at Newmarket on final start of 2017 but seemingly hasn't trained on and he was well beaten at Ascot last time out.

Holmeswoodp15
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-11| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: M Dods| OR:  91| BF| D
12/1
Rattled off a hat-trick towards the end of last summer and has been running okay in defeat this year with a host of placed efforts. Capable off this mark but disapppointed a little last time out.

Evergate7
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-10| J: Tom Marquand| T: R M H Cowell| OR:  90| D

Losing run is mounting up now and still finds himself above his last winning mark. His penultimate win at Ascot hinted at a return to form but he couldn't back it up at Catterick subsequently and others preferred.

Just Glamorous15
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-10| J: P J McDonald| T: R Harris| OR:  90| D
25/1
Won a Listed race at Ascot towards the end of last year. Out of form in recent starts and clearly a risky proposition but on a very nice mark if he can bounce back.

Horse silk
Rapid Applause4
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-10| J: Nathan Evans| T: M & D Easterby| OR:  90| D

Won twice earlier in the campaign but has found things tough from his revised mark since. A return to 5f and a fast surface might help.

Horse silk
Equimou12
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-9| J: R Kingscote| T: R Eddery| OR:  89| D
25/1
Just one win from 12 runs this year and failed to build on the win at Salisbury when well beaten on AW last time. Not the most straightforward sort and others preferred.

Horse silk
Quick Look8
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-8| J: Cam Hardie| T: M & D Easterby| OR:  88| D
25/1
Won twice this year but his very best form has come over 6f and he would probably prefer some cut in the ground over this trip. Beaten at Haydock last time and others preferred.

Horse silk
Duke Of Firenze7
Age: 9|  Weight: 8-6| J: Josephine Gordon| T: D C Griffiths| OR:  86| D
12/1
Very well-handicapped on old form but he's past his best now and losing run stands at 20. May need a drop in class to be seen at his best.

Erissimus Maximusb21
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-6| J: Nicola Currie(3)| T: C A Dwyer| OR:  86| D

Had disappointed this season before bouncing back with an impressive success at Ascot last time. Capable off this handicap mark.

Diamond Dougal1
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-4| J: J F Egan| T: M R Channon| OR:  84| D

Kicked off the season with a win and only narrowly denied at Newbury last time out over 6f. Drop back in trip is a concern on this sort of ground and others make more appeal.

Excessable7
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-3| J: Rachel Richardson| T: T D Easterby| OR:  83| D

In good form throughout 2017 but has been a little inconsistent this time around with just one win from 11 starts. Not disgraced behind Foolad last time but work on to reverse the form.

East Street Revueb7
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-3| J: Robert Dodsworth(7)| T: T D Easterby| OR:  83| D

Unlucky not to have got his head in front this year but disappointed last time out at Catterick and he's been kept busy this season. On a workable mark if he's not over the top.

Forecasts

Tarboosh (8/1), Camacho Chief (8/1), Foolaad (10/1), Dakota Gold (11/1), East Street Revue (11/1), Holmeswood (12/1), Duke Of Firenze (12/1), Diamond Dougal (14/1), Abel Handy (14/1), Ornate (14/1), Erissimus Maximus (16/1), Rapid Applause (16/1), Copper Knight (18/1), Evergate (20/1), Sir Robert Cheval (20/1), Lord Riddiford (25/1), Just Glamorous (25/1), Quick Look (25/1), Equimou (25/1), Line Of Reason (25/1), Excessable (33/1), Mayleaf Shine (33/1)

Verdict

FOOLAD is still feasibly handicapped after a 3lb rise for his win last time out and there could be more to come from him over this trip. Erissimus Maximus bounced back with his best effort for some time at Ascot earlier in the month but Camacho Chief could be the main danger to the selection after just a narrow defeat in a hat-trick bid last time.
  1. Foolaad
  2. Camacho Chief
  3. Erissimus Maximus
