3lb higher than when winning the Northumberland Plate consolation race (2m) in June. Recent turf efforts leave him plenty of his plate despite a 4lb drop here.

Soft ground a possible excuse last time, but handled good to soft well enough when winning over this trip at Haydock prior to that. 3lb higher here and it would be no surprise if he proved up to winning this.

Scored at Chester in May (1m4½f, good), when 10lb lower and placed in all seven starts since. 3lb better off with Finniston Farm for a 1¼L defeat by him last time, so entitled to plenty of respect.

Won well at Ascot in July (1m6f, good to firm), when 3lb lower. Well held in all three starts since, so has a bit to prove.

Yarmouth handicap winner (1m1f, good to firm) from 15lb lower in August. Has continued to improve in defeat since. Return to this trip offers scope for a bit more and should again be thereabouts.

Scored at Chester (1m2½f, good to soft), when 2lb lower, last month. More testing ground an excuse at York last time. Back up to a trip over which he is probably at his best, and not ruled out with 7lb claimed.

Fast ground winner twice in the summer (1m/1m2f), the latter from 6lb lower. Also went very close from this mark at York next time. Held on his last three starts, but worth a try over this longer trip.

Won over this trip at both Hamilton and Ripon last month and lost a shoe when bidding for a hat-trick at York last time. Needs a bit of improvement to score from this mark, but not ruled out if he can bounce back.

Acts on good or slower and stays 1m6f. Now back on the same mark as her last win at Haydock 13-months ago. Well handicapped on her best efforts, but supporters pin hopes on an immediate revival on stable debut.

Leicester novice winner last year. Good effort on first start after being gelded at Chester in June. Well held after a break last time (1m6f), but could do better back over this trip. Considered.

Forecasts

Finniston Farm (3/1), Jabbaar (4/1), Busy Street (9/2), Morning Wonder (5/1), Bolder Bob (7/1), Machine Learner (8/1), Western Duke (10/1), Mukhayyam (14/1), Thomas Cranmer (14/1), Multellie (14/1), Sepal (25/1), Cosmelli (25/1)

Verdict

A really interesting handicap and provided conditions get no softer it could pay to side with FINNISTON FARM, who could be up to winning again from 3lb higher than his most recent Haydock success. Morning Wonder is a very interesting unexposed candidate, while Western Duke could also get heavily involved. Jabbaar, Busy Street and the Tim Easterby pair Multellie and Mukhayyam are others not ruled out.

  2. Morning Wonder
  3. Jabbaar
