Off the track since September 2017 when in the care of the late Malcolm Jefferson; 2m novice hurdle winner with potentially his best days still ahead; lacked fluency on sole chasing start (2m4f Perth, heavy).
Veteran, 7-55; back over fences for the first time since taking a heavy fall at Perth in April (3m, soft); should be stronger for the run over hurdles at Perth (2m) last month; trip and ground both suitable.
Better over fences (a six-time winner) than over hurdles, and was knocking at the door off similar marks at around 3m on decent ground early last season; not so strong of late, but is respected with Barry Geraghty aboard.
Gallant 2m4f Haydock winner (soft) off a 3lb lower mark in March, and possibly found Wincanton sharp enough next time; solid strike-rate over fences (4-10; 40%); couldn't be discounted if fully fit and ready to rock and roll.
Beat the enigmatic Chidswell when scoring by a neck over an extended 2m7f trip at Kelso (soft) in January; raced just once since and only 2lb higher today; reasonable starting point for the season under optimum conditions.
Lost his way for previous trainer Noel Meade, with form figures immediately prior to joining this yard hardly inspiring (PFP); 0-8 over fences, with yet another 'P' to add to the growing collection at Hexham (2m4f, soft); cheekpieces applied.
Winner at the second time of asking for Dan Skelton (formerly with Paul Webber) at Warwick in May (2m4f, good to soft); unable to defy a penalty swiftly thereafter (fourth), and now a further 3lb higher; of obvious interest nevertheless.
Back to winning ways (20/1) when gamely fending off the rules maiden Chanceiton at Hexham in June (3m, good); 5lb higher off a 131 day break, and far from certain to back up that run; finished sixth in this race in 2017.
9/4f when unseating Finian O'Toole at the first at Kelso (2m5f+) just under three weeks ago; sole win came narrowly off this mark in May 2017 (Market Rasen); others preferred.

No shortage of 'ifs and buts' in a very winnable looking finale, so the obvious candidate is the Dan Skelton-trained TOO MUCH TOO SOON. The Alcester handler is an expert at rejuvenating others cast-offs, and he soon had this 9yo in the winners enclosure at Warwick in May. It's entirely possible that he lived up to his name when finding the follow up option (under a penalty) at Uttoxeter coming plenty quickly enough. However, fresh from a summer break and with both trip and ground conditions seemingly ideal, he can be expected to kick off the new season in style.
