From a good family, but he's disappointed in three runs to date. Connections keep the faith, though, and may do better now handicapping in headgear.
Patchy form to date, but fared better on first start since wind surgery when fifth of 13 to Thistimelastyear in 1m3f handicap here last time. Claims if he can build on that.
A maiden after six starts but has run two fair races since moving into handicaps, albeit looking short of pace. Too free when tried in blinkers last time, and may do better reverting to cheekpieces now.
Better for the run after a break at Windsor in August, and has run with credit despite flashing his tail when in the frame at Ffos Las and over C&D on last two starts, albeit given an easy time in front here last time. Bit more needed.
In frame several times at Beverley in July/August, but form has slipped on last two starts, and not easy to fancy, for all jockey booking takes the eye.
Matched pick of earlier efforts when a staying-on third of 12 over C&D last time, and while it took him time to knuckle down, he should find cheekpieces helping him in that regard now. Sound claims.
Won over 1m4½f at Musselburgh in May, but patchy form since, and record on AW is moderate, with another below-par effort at Newcastle last time.
Has improved a bit on last two starts, leading early when sixth of 11 to Dame Nellie in a C&D handicap last time, but that shows that she has something to find from her present mark. Cheekpieces tried now.
Has shown a degree of promise in qualifying runs, all over 1m here in recent months. May well do better at this trip, but opening assessment is on the harsh side, as tends to be the case.
Failed to progress, but ran respectably when fourth on handicap bow at Windsor (1m2f) in August, and probably didn't handle track when well beaten at Ripon last time. May yet do better.
Ridden by this talented claimer when gaining back-to-back wins at up to 1m3½f on turf in the summer. Found life harder since, but ran respectably when fifth to Blue Reflection over C&D last time.
Has caught the eye to some extent in a trio of qualifying runs at 7f/1m, and type to do better in handicaps, so needs a market check, but stamina for this trip is taken on trust.
Belatedly got off the mark when winning a weak seller at Lingfield last month for Marcus Tregoning, but ran poorly back in a handicap for new yard last time, and opposable on balance.
Helped by dictating when in the frame in handicaps at Epsom and Sandown in the summer, and probably better judged on latest seventh of 13 to Thistimelastyear over 1m3f here last time. Work to do on that form.
Forecasts
Buckland Boy (5/2), Cristal Spirit (3/1), Baasha (8/1), Tinsmith (9/1), Sky Rocket (10/1), Macho Mover (10/1), Hilborough (12/1), Becky Sharp (20/1), Houlton (25/1), Sploosh (25/1), Barnay (33/1), Aria Rose (50/1), Poetic Steps (50/1), Y Fyn Duw A Fydd (50/1)
CRISTAL SPIRIT ran well over C&D last time, although looked slightly hard work as he stayed on, and he's likely to benefit from the fitting of cheekpieces now. Buckland Boy can be forgiven a poor run at the idiosyncratic circuit at Ripon last time, and is likely to be seen to better effect here, with Sky Rocket also worth consideration despite his penchant for flashing his tail.
- Cristal Spirit
- Buckland Boy
- Sky Rocket
