Only win in 27 starts came in a C&D handicap in January. Consistent on the whole, and excuses for a poor run at Leicester last time after a break. Should be competitive if that's blown away the cobwebs.
No impact in two handicap starts to date, but not entirely disgraced back in maiden company on latest outing. Needs to show he can build on that, and improvement required in any case.
On long losing run and last success came at Brighton two years ago off 8lb higher. May not be the force of old but returns after a break and has gone well fresh in the past, so not without a squeak if fit and ready to go.
Won well at Brighton last month, and good second there next time, but has run poorly on last couple of starts, and latest effort was particularly disappointing. Hard to know what to expect, but opposable on recent evidence.
Winner at Bath in June and bounced back from a poor run when 2L second of 14 to Silverturnstogold over C&D last time. Usual blinkers left off for that run, and goes without again here. Not dismissed.
Failed to stay 1m4f at Wolverhampton last time, but had been running respectably at around this trip prior to that effort. Slipping in the handicap, and no shock to see him competitive back at this trip.
Won at Redcar and Hamilton last summer (6f), but lost his way completely since, and poor efforts under this rider on all three starts this year. Plenty to prove.
Just one win from his last 28 starts, and a mixed bag in terms of form this year. One of his better efforts when second at Lingfield last month, but typically failed to repeat that last time.
Hasn't been beaten all that far when down the field on his last two starts, but that's probably a product of slowly run races rather than any evidence that he's improving on previous poor form.
Shaped as if retaining ability when third on return from an absence at Yarmouth in August, but never in the hunt at Chelmsford next time, and needs to up his game markedly now.
Veteran who has looked on the downgrade for a while, and both efforts this season have been very poor.
Showed a bit on debut, but nearer last than first in three starts since, most recently when tailed off on handicap bow. Hood tried now, but makes no appeal.
Yet to trouble the judge in seven starts to date, and although she got a little closer at Brighton last time, no obvious reason to think she should do much better now.
Progress has stalled since finishing third on handicap debut at Chelmsford (1m2f) in August, but fared better dropped in trip when fourth of 12 to Final Attack in 1m½f handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Needs to build on that.
Forecasts
Star Of Assisi (4/1), Coachella (9/2), Dor's Law (6/1), Gorham's Cave (8/1), Spryt (8/1), Solveig's Song (10/1), Astone Man (10/1), Billy Star (11/1), Bloodsweatandtears (16/1), Ipsilante (16/1), Little Indian (33/1), Concur (40/1), Mirror Magic (66/1), Chandrayaan (100/1)
COACHELLA ran better without the blinkers when runner-up over C&D last time, and looks up to taking a weak handicap from the same mark. Dor's Law is a C&D winner, albeit with a poor strike-rate and has place claims after a forgivable lapse on turf last time. Gorham's Cave hadn't been shaping up too badly until failing to stay 1m4f last time, and he is handicapped to play a part.
- Coachella
- Dor's Law
- Gorham's Cave
