Ballydun Oscart106
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-11| J: David Bass| T: B Pauling| OR:  118
11/4
Winner in the point-to point sphere who has taken well to hurdling and scored at his second attempt in this sphere albeit in modest company. Open to further improvement making his handicap debut off what looks a workable mark.

High Noon181
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: L P Aspell| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR:  115
7/2
Bred to be suited by trips like this and looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind having been lightly-raced so far (just three hurdles starts). Worth noting in the market given his background; this looking very much his sort of test.
3
Horse silk
Whispering Affair351
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-5| J: T J O'Brien| T: Ian Williams| OR:  112
7/2
First start for this yard having previously been trained in Ireland by Stuart Crawford but is 0/7 so far over hurdles. Has joined a yard that are in good form and have had success with this type and not written off back in handicaps.

Sheriff Garrett7
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: T D Easterby| OR:  107
4/1
Fair Flat performer (both wins came on the AW) who has yet to really take to hurdles (jumping is fairly sketchy). Did a little better last time and now upped in trip on handicap debut but still likely to be found wanting.
5
Horse silk
Scented Lilyh25
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: J J Burke| T: C E Longsdon| OR:  107
7/2
Maiden hurdler who now tries her longest trip so far but is off a career-high mark having run her best race last time at Warwick over 2m3f. Likely to be able to win a handicap but may have come across a couple of useful types here.

Forecasts

Ballydun Oscar (11/4), Scented Lily (7/2), Whispering Affair (7/2), High Noon (7/2), Sheriff Garrett (4/1)

Verdict

Only five go to post here but it’s still a complex little event to sort out with a chance taken on HIGH NOON who looks as though he’ll enjoy this trip having been lightly-raced so far and now into handicap company for the first time. Ballydun Oscar is a similar type although he’s already won over hurdles and he’s open to improvement tackling handicaps for the first time. Both Whispering Affair and Sheriff Garrett have a little to prove in his sphere and that may well allow Scented Lily to take the minor place again as she did last time out.
  1. High Noon
  2. Ballydun Oscar
  3. Scented Lily
