Had plenty of chances (eight-race maiden), and unfortunately for his connections he looks to be headed the wrong way; that said, his strongest early season form gives him a realistic chance if revitalised by the switch to the AW (debut); risky.
Fairly solid in each of his last three starts; off the mark when making all to win unchallenged at Musselburgh (7f) in August, and placed off a similar mark on his AW debut at Kempton (7f) just over a month ago.
Runner up to Penarth Pier on debut over 6f here in August (novice), but hasn't progressed since; finished last of 11 on nursery debut at Catterick (7f) 17 days ago.
0-5, including when weakening on nursery debut and sole AW start so far (6f) last month; visor applied and eased in the weights.
0-6, but broadly consistent at his (limited) level of ability; prominent until headed at the furlong pole when beaten 2L by the Mark Johnston-trained Diva D over C&D last month; 1lb higher.
€14,000 yearling; visor applied for his AW debut after finishing a keeping on eighth of 12 to Headland on nursery bow at Salisbury (7f) last month.
Related to winners over staying trips (1m2f-2m), and is likely to improve with racing; respectable 3L fifth of 14 to Fighting Spirit on nursery debut at Newcastle (7f).
Well beaten on all four starts so far, including when finishing 7½L fifth of eight to Muthhilla on nursery debut (6f) in August; dropped 2lb with stamina to prove on her first attempt at 7f.
0-7; 4lb lower than when finishing a never nearer 2L fourth of 12 to Wolf Hunter at Kempton (6f) in August, but twice disappointing since hence the application of a visor tonight.
Forecasts
Smart Illusion (5/2), French Twist (5/1), Pesci (11/2), Axel Jacklin (7/1), Swift Justice (8/1), Peters Pudding (8/1), Klipperty Klopp (8/1), Dark Panther (16/1), Emily's Rose (33/1)
No strength in depth, but with further improvement possible both Klipperty Klopp and Peters Pudding could well force their respective ways into the frame at a price. However, this is best left to those likely to force the pace. Pesci is of limited ability, albeit more straightforward than many, so should figure prominently, but the David O'Meara trained SMART ILLUSION rates as slightly more progressive and is drawn just inside of his chief rival.
- Smart Illusion
- Pesci
- Klipperty Klopp
