Back to life in a visor on last two starts, latterly when scoring at Ayr. Up 4lb, but is in good heart and can go well if the headgear works again.
Good efforts off this sort of mark on last two starts, but remains without a win this season. Needs to find a little improvement if he is to get his head in front.
Scored over C&D in July, but three subsequent efforts off 5lb higher have been most disappointing. Has been dropped 2lb, but has plenty to prove for top connections.
Ayr winner in August and ran well off 4lb higher at Wolverhampton. Not so good on soft ground last time, but has decent prospects back on a sounder surface.
Not too much to shout about this season and handicapper has not cut him too much slack. Need to find extra in a first-time tongue tie.
Successful in a division of this contest a year ago off a much higher mark. Back to winning ways at Ayr four days ago and looks to have strong claims under his penalty.
Like Roaring Forties, he won a division of this race 12 months ago. Not at his best at Ayr on last two starts, but it would be dangerous to rule him out.
Ayr winner in August and has not been disgraced off higher marks since, including back at that track earlier this month. Not much to play with off this mark, but should be on the premises.
Bounced back to winning ways over 6f at Newcastle earlier this month. More required off 5lb higher mark, but she is only young and may be improving.
Forecasts
Roaring Forties (7/2), Inglorious (4/1), Explain (7/1), Inner Circle (8/1), Supaulette (17/2), Coviglia (9/1), Gabrial The Tiger (11/1), Ventura Secret (12/1), Zoravan (12/1)
At either end of the weights, cases can be made for Explain and Supaulette. Coviglia will be better served by a sounder surface than last time, but Inglorious and ROARING FORTIES won divisions of this race last year and are of more interest. The selection bounced back to form at Ayr four days ago and has strong claims under his penalty. Zoravan is another to consider.
- Roaring Forties
- Inglorious
- Coviglia
