Dual winner in the spring (1m2f/1m4f) on soft ground. Has progressed since then, including when beaten just 1½L in the Melrose here in August. Probably has each-way claims unless he can pull out more.
Won a 1m4f Chepstow novice event in May. Improved on that next time in the Queen's Vase (1m6f) at Royal Ascot. Another respectable (and better) effort last time over 2m½f, from this mark, so more needed for another win, but not ruled out.
Has improved with every run and won his last three. Up another 5lb for the latest of those, which he did readily at Haydock (1m6f, good to soft). Won't mind any rain and should go close.
4lb higher than when scoring at Newmarket in July (1m4f, soft). Has improved since then. Stays well, but more needed in this field if he is to have a serious chance of winning.
Heavy ground Salisbury maiden winner (1m4f) in April. Not beaten far in Listed company next time, but not seen since down the field in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot in June. 2lb drop and needs to bounce back.
Improving gelding who is seeking a hat-trick after wins at both Wolverhampton and more recently when stepped up to this trip at Haydock (good to soft). Did that easily, so this 8lb rise looks fair enough. Decent claims.
Won a couple of races at up to 1m1f last season, but has not yet managed to add to those since trying longer trips this year. Held from this mark on his last two starts. Others preferred.
Has shown significant improvement lately, winning at both Hamilton (1m3f, good) and then Newcastle (1m4½f, AW). Up another 6lb for the latter, he has it to prove in this better race and over this more extreme trip.
Scored in back-to-back novice events last year (both heavy). Lost his way earlier this year, but showed better on first run after being gelded at Ayr (heavy) last month. Up 1lb for that. Unexposed and interesting, though faster ground a concern.
Triple 1m2f winner at Ayr this season. Went close at Beverley when just 2lb lower last month. Has had softer ground as an excuse on his last two starts, but should appreciate this going more and has an each-way squeak stepped up in trip.
Seeking a hat-trick after wins at both Goodwood (2m, good) and Kempton (2m, AW) lately. Another 5lb rise for the latter, but he looked to have a bit in hand and is entitled to be considered here.
4lb higher than when scoring over a similar trip at Chester in July. Held both starts since, including over C&D. Others preferred.

Surya (11/4), Canford Heights (10/3), Elegiac (6/1), Proschema (6/1), Almoghared (11/1), Astromachia (12/1), Rare Groove (14/1), Bartholomeu Dias (14/1), Lynwood Gold (20/1), Wax And Wane (20/1), Billy Ray (33/1), Glasses Up (40/1), Midnight Wilde (40/1)
A decent stayers' handicap where the pick of the crop appear to be Surya and CANFORD HEIGHTS and the latter is marginally preferred. Both are on an upward curve, but the William Haggas-trained runner won easily enough last time to suggest that he might have more in the locker this time. Rare Groove needs further improvement and along with Glasses Up, has stamina to prove, while Astromachia and Wax And Wane are both of interest.
