Left Dermot Weld for 18,000gns in July and has had wind surgery since; yet to race on the AW, but clearly has ability and is a half-brother to the 7f-1m AW scorer Vatican Hill; first start over 5f.
On a good mark based upon his Doncaster second in June (5½f, good to firm), but has under-performed markedly since then, including when well beaten on AW debut (Class 2) at Chelmsford latest.
Midfield finish when a beaten favourite at Redcar (5f, good) on Saturday, having won two on the bounce prior to that race (Dundalk and Hamilton); possible that the handicapper and a recent busy spell of racing is catching up with him; 1-1 on AW.
Made all in the first-time blinkers (retained) when justifying market support over C&D in August (Class 5); not so pleasing on turf since, and one can't help but wonder if that previous winning effort simply came in a modest race.
Patchy overall profile, and hasn't won since his juvenile days with Charlie Appleby (2015); modest run over 6f at Chester latest; interesting to see if the first-time blinkers and AW switch (debut) help to spark a revival.
11-race maiden; AW debut; joined Roger Fell for 27,000gns from Kevin Prendergast in July, and a case of sorts can be made from a falling handicap mark; market helpful; chance.
25% AW strike-rate (3-12), with all of those wins coming over this particular C&D; 3lb above his last winning mark, but should be sharper after a fairly recent run at Wolverhampton.
Not been with her yard for very long and they tend to do well with these sprinting types. However, she's not shown much this year (including when hooded latest) but is now 3lb below her last winning mark.
Not the most consistent of horses, but undeniably has ability, and more races in there somewhere; sole attempt on the AW in June 2017, when a closing ½L C&D second to Henley; definite place claims at a price.
Debut winner for Mick Channon (5f, good) in June 2017; picked up cheaply for £2,500 in July and yet to make her mark (in better races) in three starts for this trainer; blinkers applied for AW debut.
Hit the target over 5f at Musselburgh (good) in June, and has ran to a similar level of form off his revised handicap mark since; place chance based on previous C&D form (1,4).
3-12 on the AW, which includes a shock 25/1 C&D win in January 2017; back from an 11 month absence when finishing 13th of 14 over 6f here last month.
5f specialist (1-4 on the AW); runner up to Jeffrey Harris at Musselburgh (good) on her penultimate start (Class 6), and held no realistic chance in a Listed race (200/1) at Ayr latest.
Forecasts
Zig Zag Zyggy (7/2), Manshood (4/1), Rumshak (7/1), Pea Shooter (15/2), Lord Of The Glen (10/1), Venturous (10/1), Consequences (12/1), Hawaam (12/1), Justice Lady (16/1), Luzum (22/1), Kinloch Pride (25/1), Short Call (50/1), Bahango (100/1)
No standout contender, but a couple with which to keep a close eye upon in the market exchanges are Luzum and HAWAAM. Both horses have shown fair form in Ireland, with the former having had wind surgery since joining Mick Easterby from Dermot Weld, and the latter slipping noticeably in the weights since leaving Kevin Prendergast for 27,000gns in July. A busy spell is possibly catching up with Zig Zag Zyggy, but both Pea Shooter and the inconsistent Manshood are realistic place players.
- Hawaam
- Manshood
- Pea Shooter
