Showed improvement earlier in the season, including a career-best from this mark, but more recent efforts suggest that much more is needed to win here, despite the drop back in trip.
Scored at Catterick on his second start (1m4f, good to firm) and improved on that under a penalty at Ffos Las last time. Initial mark looks fair and he could again have a big say on his handicap debut.
Won a Doncaster Class 4 (1m4f, good to firm) in August, but well held in better company over 1m6f at York last time. Back in this grade, he could be more competitive again.
Scored at Newmarket (1m2f, good to firm) in a 0-95 in May, but that has proved to be a spike in his form so far. Rise in grade and soft ground have perhaps been excuses on his two runs over this trip, but has a bit to prove.
Won well at Doncaster in April (1m4f, soft) and also went close from this mark at Windsor in June. Generally a consistent performer. Blinkers fitted, and wouldn't need to find much more improvement to be a contender.
Improver who ran well enough on his handicap debut at Newmarket when last seen in August. 1lb drop won't harm. More needed, but could be a player.
Dual winner at around 1m in the spring, but has not been able to go on in handicaps. Has dropped to a more feasible mark, but has a bit to prove now stepped up to this longer trip.
Got off the mark on his reappearance/handicap debut at Salisbury (1m2f, heavy) in the spring, when 3lb higher. Held all starts since. Worth a try over this far (sire won St Leger), but has it to prove.
Handicap debut win on his seasonal return at Windsor in May remains his sole success. Marginally bettered that once since, but not yet gone on. Still has time on his side, but more required.
Scored at Newcastle (1m2f, AW) in novice company in March and has improved in both subsequent runs. Unexposed and dropped slightly in trip/2lb in handicap. More needed.
Six-race maiden who put up his best effort to date when third at Newbury last time, from this mark. Good, as opposed to the fast ground there, may better suit. Not ruled out.

Scaramanga (2/1), Spirit Ridge (5/2), Candidate (5/1), Manor Park (10/1), Vision Clear (14/1), He's Amazing (16/1), Nebuchadnezzar (20/1), Coolongolook (20/1), Mandalayan (25/1), Velvet Vision (28/1), Adjutant (40/1), Westbrook Bertie (66/1)
SPIRIT RIDGE does not appear hard done by at the hands of the handicapper on his debut in this sphere and is preferred here to Scaramanga, who is improving and looks a threat. Candidate is another to consider, while Nebuchadnezzar may also be involved.
