Winner of a sub-standard Newbury novice and a Class 4 nursery at Kempton. Failed to exploit a more appealing mark last time and plenty of work to do here.

Leoube49

Winner of a minor race and comfortably held on Polytrack last time. A 2lb rise demands significant improvement in a better race.

Showed gradual improvement until stalling in a hot race at York. Dropped in the weights and would be dangerous on his previous form if there were valid reasons for that.

Scored here on nursery debut in lesser company before making no impression in better grade next time. Possible he is better than that and would not rule out an improved run on less testing ground.

Improved by the run until showing much-improved form to storm clear of her rivals in a 6f nursery at Wolverhampton last week. Hit hard by the handicapper for that, and only seventh back on turf at Doncaster next time.

Winner on heavy ground in May but has lacked the pace to challenge on better ground since over a variety of trips. Dropping down the weights for last year's winning stable, but rain would make him more attractive.

Form of his Carlisle victory has been let down and his latest run shows he has work to do from this mark.

Had been showing steady improvement until a seventh furlong proved beyond him last time. Has a bit more scope than many in this and cannot be ruled out.

Best run of the campaign came under this rider at Ascot when beaten just a length in a more competitive nursery. 3lb lower here having been too keen on his last two starts (both over 7f) and a hood tried today.

Winner of a poor race last time at Kempton and improvement needed in this company off a 5lb higher mark.

Took a claimer at Beverley last time when rated 7lb lower than here. Doubtful she has improved that much.

Dark Shadow (3/1), Muthhila (4/1), Mr Diamond (7/1), Indian Sounds (7/1), Steeve (10/1), Leoube (10/1), Cracking Speed (12/1), Requited (12/1), Wolf Hunter (14/1), Pirate (16/1), Mark's Choice (16/1), Islay Mist (40/1), Princess Florence (50/1)

Verdict

PIRATE is taken to return to form back over this trip and with Hollie Doyle on board for the first time since finishing fourth in a blanket finish for a better nursery than this at Ascot when 3lb higher in the weights. Stable companion Cracking Speed is a potential improver but Leoube will need to improve to defy a new mark. Dark Shadow would have claims on his earlier form but was disappointing last time. Mutthila may show his last run came too soon and rates a danger.
