Back on a handy mark which is 3lb lower than when finishing in excess of 2L third to Avenue Of Stars over C&D in August; often spotted staying on late from off the pace at this track; definite contender.
Nine-race maiden who has been taken out of a couple of planned recent engagements at Catterick; off the track since March, but twice placed over C&D immediately prior to that (off similar marks).
Course winner (7f) in January 2017, but has posted very moderate efforts since (7f-1m), including on his recent return to action; handicap mark easing and dropped back in trip (can race keenly).
Headed close home by 25/1 winner She's Royal over 7f here early last month having kept good form on turf prior; disappointing latest (Leicester 7f, good) and needs to bounce back, but holds every chance if doing so.
Unable to unlock the door on turf (0-9), but tough to knock for consistency, and was a C&D winner off this mark in March (beating Coastal Drive by a neck); respected back over 6f.
5f Bath juvenile winner for Richard Hannon in May 2017 (8/13f); has fallen sharply in the weights (18lb) since joining Phil Kirby for 25,000gns in November 2017; unexposed on the AW, but very risky (pace angle).
Hasn't shown that much so far, but it's still early days after five career starts; best effort came on handicap debut at Kempton (7f) in June when finishing just over 3½L third to Navarra Princess.
Knocking at the door on turf lately (6f-7f); beaten just a neck and a nose under tonight's rider Paula Muir at Redcar last week; 0-9 on the AW, but appears to handle Tapeta; every chance.
14-race AW maiden; most effective between 5f-6f; beaten less than 2L by Kibaar (third placed Madam Devious runs earlier) on stable debut over C&D last month; respected off an untouched mark; trainer 2-7 (29%) at this track since May 2016.
On a lengthy losing run, failing to tick any boxes since winning a C&D claimer for Michael Herrington in March 2017 (when rated 75); offered just a ray of light when placed at Hamilton (6f, soft) latest.
Hasn't won since January 2015 (6f Wolverhampton), and arrives on the back of four poor efforts during the course of 2018.
Six-race maiden; with Sir Mark Prescott when a comfortably held fourth of eight to Lady Lintera on handicap debut over C&D in January; sold cheaply for just 4,000gns in February; market a possible guide.
£2,000 yearling; has raced three times so far for Ruth Carr, with her best effort being a modest 100/1 third (novice) at Redcar last month; turned out quickly for handicap debut after a tame effort here on Friday evening.

Duke Cosimo (2/1), Carlovian (7/2), Supaulette (6/1), Guiding Star (10/1), Ticks The Boxes (10/1), Ghost (12/1), Ocean Temptress (14/1), Gorse (20/1), Black Hambleton (25/1), First Breath (28/1), Marcella (28/1), Campion (33/1), Argon (66/1), Yair Hill (150/1)
A number of the runners have a realistic winning chance including the Irish challenger Guiding Star who ran a solid race (staying on) on stable debut over C&D last month. The likes of Supaulette and Ghost have performed well on turf over a prolonged period of time, so shouldn't be dismissed lightly, nor should the well-treated Carlovian who holds every chance under Paula Muir if able to replicate the form of his Redcar third to Sir Derrick on Tapeta. However, it is the eased in grade top-weight DUKE COSIMO who is most tempting. A stiff test over 6f suits him very well, and his back catalogue of Newcastle form reads extremely well in this Class 6 company.
- Duke Cosimo
- Carlovian
- Guiding Star
